The ATK04-BK is a 4' single circuit track lighting rail from LITELINE, part of the ATK series of extruded aluminum tracks made for A-Line track fixtures. People call it a lighting track, a track rail, a track bar or simply the "rail" that track lighting heads clip into — whatever you call it, it is the backbone of the system. Available in 2', 4', 6', 8' and 12' nominal lengths, this one is the 4' section in a black finish (BK), a favourite for kitchens, galleries, retail floors and offices where the light has to be aimed at a counter, a display, a painting or a workstation and re-aimed later without touching the ceiling wiring.

Built from extruded aluminum with a PVC bus bar support holding 12 gauge round bus bars, the ATK series is rigid, clean-looking and designed to last: a polarity groove runs along the face of the track to show where the grounding conductor sits, so orientation is obvious during installation. Electrically, it is a single circuit power distribution system with single hot and neutral conductors rated for a maximum capacity of 20 Amps (2400 watts per circuit) at 120V, with copper conductors concealed in a low-profile thermo-plastic track section. The ATK04 measures 5⁄8" (16mm) by 1 3⁄8" (35mm) in section, and the rail is surface mounted using the supplied mounting hardware; suspended mounting is available with accessories ordered separately. It is cULus listed and backed by a 5 year warranty.

Construction and finish
The ATK series is an extruded aluminum track built for use with A-Line track fixtures, and the ATK04-BK is the 4' nominal section in black. The extrusion is paired with a PVC bus bar support that holds 12 gauge round bus bars, giving the rail its rigidity and keeping the conductors properly spaced along the whole run. A polarity groove is located on the face of the track to indicate the location of the grounding conductor — a small detail that saves real time when you are joining sections or dropping in a power feed and need every piece oriented the same way. The black finish disappears against dark ceilings and beams, or reads as a deliberate graphic line on white drywall, which is why designers keep specifying it for track lighting in modern interiors.

Electrical and safety
This is a single circuit power distribution system designed to supply lighting units flexibly. Single hot and neutral conductors are rated for a maximum capacity of 20 Amps (2400 watts per circuit) at 120V, and the copper electrical conductors are concealed inside the low-profile thermo-plastic track section, so nothing live is exposed along the rail. With LED track heads drawing only a handful of watts each, that 2400 watts per circuit ceiling leaves plenty of headroom for a long, fully loaded run of LED track lighting heads. Installation and compatibility
The track is surface mounted using the supplied mounting hardware, straight to the ceiling or to a wall. For open ceilings, lofts or sloped surfaces, suspended mounting is available with accessories ordered separately — rod kits, aircraft cable sets, canopy kits and suspension kits are all part of the ATK accessory family, along with joiners, "I", "L", "T" and "X" connectors, live end and wired end power feeds, monopoint feeds, receptacles and current limiters. The track system is compatible with all A-Line and Juno style track fixtures, accessories and connectors, which means you are never locked into a single head. Applications and documentation
In residential projects, a 4' run over a kitchen island, a dining table or a stairwell gallery replaces three or four fixed fixtures with one flexible line.
