Built for modern lightingThis Caséta Wireless in-wall dimmer belongs to a family of load controls designed to be operated both directly at the wall and remotely. The face keeps the familiar decorator look, with green status LEDs that show load status at a glance, and a
Front Accessible Service Switch (FASST) so you can safely kill the load when changing a lamp. Because load controls always operate locally, the dimmer never depends on a system, a hub or the internet to turn your lights on — if the network is down, the wall control still works exactly as expected. Power failure memory means that after an outage, the control returns to the level it was set to before the interruption.
Wireless control that actually reachesThe dimmer uses Lutron patented Clear Connect RF technology, which travels through walls and floors. It communicates with Pico remote controls and with the Lutron Smart Bridge or Smart Bridge PRO by radio frequency, and with Lutron Radio Powr Savr occupancy and vacancy sensors in standalone applications (those sensors do not work with a Smart Bridge or Smart Bridge PRO). Keep the dimmer within 60 ft (18 m) line-of-sight or 30 ft (9 m) through walls of the Pico remotes and Smart Bridge devices. With no Smart Bridge installed, up to 10 devices in total (Pico remotes and Radio Powr Savr sensors) can be paired to each in-wall dimmer. In a Smart Bridge or Smart Bridge PRO system, up to 50 total wireless devices are supported per system — dimmers, switches, Pico remotes and shades — with the bridge itself counting as one device. The Lutron App is required for setup and usage with a Smart Bridge or Smart Bridge PRO.

Installation and compatibilityPlan a 1-gang box with enough depth, and note that certain models or load types in the Caséta family require a neutral connection — confirm your box has a neutral before you start. Wallplates are sold separately: Claro wallplates snap on with no visible means of attachment, and designer-style plates from other sources fit as well, which makes it easy to gang the dimmer with other controls for a clean, uniform wall. On the load side, the golden rule stays the same: your bulbs, LED drivers or LED tape drivers must be marked
dimmable, because the pairing of lamp and dimmer decides how low and how smoothly the light will go. Test a sample before ordering a full job. Electrical work should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local codes.
Where it earns its keep, and documentationIn a home, it turns a living room, a primary bedroom or a finished basement into a space with real ambience — bright for chores, low and warm for movie night — and a Pico remote clipped by the bed or at the top of the stairs acts like a
3-way dimmer without opening a wall. In a café, boutique or waiting room, scenes and schedules move the light from morning service to evening mood automatically. Complete the system with the
Lutron Pico remote or the
Caséta starter kit; for rooms where you only need simple on/off, the
Caséta 6A 3-way switch matches the same look, and for a straightforward wired control the
Lutron Diva LED dimmer 150W is a solid alternative. The full
