A dimmer designed around LED loadsOlder dimmers were built for incandescent filaments, which is why they often make modern lamps flicker, buzz or shut off early. This
LED+ slide dimmer includes advanced dimming technology developed specifically for today's light sources: dimmable LEDs, dimmable compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) with integrated ballast, Lutron LTEA Hi-lume 1% forward-phase LED drivers, halogen and incandescent. The result is a smoother curve from full output down to a warm, relaxed evening level. Formerly sold as C•L, the control is 100% factory tested, electrostatic discharge tested and colour matched for a clean look next to your other devices.
Controls and low-end adjustmentThree elements do all the work. The rocker
switch turns the lights on and off and returns the load to its previous level. The linear
slider sets the light level: up increases, down decreases. Behind the wallplate, an adjustment lever or wheel sets the low-end dimming limit — on the lever type, up (clockwise) increases brightness and down (counter-clockwise) decreases it; on the wheel type, up (clockwise) decreases brightness and down (counter-clockwise) increases it. Important: set the slider to the bottom before adjusting the dimming range. Dial the low end just above the point where your bulbs start to flicker or drop out, and you gain a stable minimum you can trust every night. Power-failure memory brings your setting back after an outage.

Installation and multigang wiringShut the power off at the panel and have the work done by a qualified electrician where required. Confirm the box is single pole or 3-way before you start: for 3-way and 4-way switching, use Claro switches or other mechanical switches with this dimmer. A wallbox at least 2 in (64 mm) deep gives room for the wire connections. When you install more than one dimmer in the same wallbox, it may be necessary to remove some side sections before wiring, and that reduces the maximum wattage — with no sides removed you may add up to 600 W of incandescent/halogen at 0 W of LED, 500 W with 1 W–25 W of LED/CFL installed, 400 W with 26 W–50 W, 300 W with 51 W–75 W, 200 W with 76 W–100 W, 100 W with 101 W–125 W, and 0 W once you reach 126 W–150 W of LED/CFL. Do not remove the outside sections. The wallplate is sold separately and the unit fits a standard designer wallplate opening.
Compatibility, uses and documentationWhen dimming LEDs or CFLs, only bulbs marked or rated as DIMMABLE may be used, and some dimmable LEDs and CFLs require a minimum number of bulbs for proper operation. Keep one technology per circuit whenever you can — mixing sources is the most common cause of buzz and uneven response. Picture it on a bank of kitchen pot lights, over a dining table, in a basement home theatre, in a hotel corridor or a boutique fitting room. Matching options in the catalogue include the black
