Built from extruded aluminumThe LUX740 is a surface-mount
aluminum profile in a U shape, cut to 4 feet (1.22 m). Aluminum is the material of choice for LED channels for two reasons: it's rigid enough to keep a long run perfectly straight, and it pulls heat away from the tape. LED strips lose brightness and shift colour when they cook against drywall or wood; seated in an
aluminum extrusion, they run cooler and hold their output. The U shape also protects the strip from dust, fingers and the occasional broom handle in a garage or shop.

Strip compatibility and light qualityThe interior dimensions of the LUX740 are wide enough to accept an IP20
LED strip, an IP65+ strip or certain IP67 strips — so a silicone-coated or sleeved tape fits where a narrower channel would not. Measure the width and thickness of your tape before ordering to confirm the fit. On the light side, the diffuser you choose changes everything: a clear diffuser renders the most light and keeps colours crisp, while frosted-style options soften the individual diodes into a more continuous line. If your strip will be visible at eye level — under a cabinet facing a seated guest, along a handrail, in a display case — a diffuser is what removes the dotting effect and makes the run look like one solid bar of light.
Installation, mounting and accessoriesYou have two clean ways to fix the profile: the optional aluminum clips, which screw into the surface and snap the channel in place, or our sturdy double-sided tape for installs where you can't or don't want to drill — glass, finished millwork, rental units. End caps close both ends of the bar for a tidy, furniture-grade finish, and open caps let your power wire exit discreetly. Remember how the options work: the quantity of caps and clips you select is multiplied by the number of bars ordered, so 2 closed caps with 5 bars gives you 10 closed caps. Aluminum profiles can be cut to length with a mitre saw and a fine-tooth blade; always deburr the cut edge before sliding your strip in, and leave your driver and connections accessible for future service.
Where it works and documentationIn homes across Canada, this 4-foot length suits under-cabinet runs, pantry and closet shelving, cove lighting above kitchen cabinets, basement bars, stair nosings, home gyms and bathroom mirrors. For contractors and small businesses, it's the everyday channel for retail shelving, jewellery and bakery display cases, reception desks, restaurant banquettes and office feature walls — and it's just as at home in a workshop or garage where the strip needs physical protection. For longer, joint-free runs on a hallway or a ceiling perimeter, combine it with the
8 feet aluminum U shape profile for LED strip (LUX740). The technical PDF for the 4 FEET INTERIOR-EXTERIOR ALUMINUM PROFILE FOR LED STRIP (LUX740) is available in the Documentation tab with the full dimensions, handy when you're planning your layout or checking clearances before you cut.
