The LUNA Designer Series starts with a durable airtight aluminum body fitted with an adjustable regressed gimbal. An anodized blue heat sink sits behind the LED module to maximize airflow and keep junction temperatures in check — the real secret behind a projected life of 70% at 50,000 hours. The trim measures 4 3/8" (111mm) square at the ceiling and 3 3/16" (78mm) in depth behind it, with a 3 5/8" (92mm) hole cut, so this square LED pot light drops into tight joist bays, sloped soffits and renovation ceilings without drama. Two spring-loaded clips grip any ceiling material, from drywall to wood plank.

Wiring and installation
The extruded aluminum hardwire box houses a 12 watt (300mA) dimmable Class II electronic LED driver with 100-135V AC input, and connects to the fixture through an 18" (457mm) FT6 rated cable with a DC 2.1 connector — approved for use in plenums and suspended ceilings. Three "Quick connect" push-in terminals make the line, neutral and ground connections fast, which matters when you are installing twenty recessed downlights in an afternoon. Because the housing is airtight and approved for direct contact with insulation, no separate IC box is required. On dimmers, stay with industry standard forward-phase / reverse-phase TRIAC/ELV models and always test one fixture on the circuit before finishing the whole ceiling.
