Built to clean up your strip lighting
The 2M Aluminium Bar for LED Strips is a rigid aluminum extrusion measuring 2 meters long, designed as a housing for flexible LED strips. Aluminum is the material of choice for this job: it holds its shape over a long run, it will not yellow like plastic trims, and it gives your strip a straight, solid track to follow. Every bar is supplied with a light diffuser that clips over the strip, so instead of a row of visible diodes you get one even band of light. That diffuser is what creates the soft neon effect people look for in coves, under cabinets and along ceilings, and it also protects the strip from dust and accidental contact.
Three shapes, three jobs
You choose your profile in the drop-down menu: U-shape thin, U-shape medium or V-shape 45° with circular diffuser. The U-shape thin is the most discreet option for tight spots such as a shelf edge, a slim cabinet valance or a narrow reveal in millwork. The U-shape medium gives you more interior room, which is handy for wider strips, for tucking in the lead wires, and for strips that produce more heat. The V-shape 45° is the corner specialist: mounted in an inside corner between a wall and a ceiling, or between a cabinet and a backsplash, it aims the light out at 45° and its circular diffuser rounds off the beam for a soft, tube-like line. One important limit to respect: the U-shape thin bar should not be used with high lumen strips such as the 3014 LED.
Installation tips
These rigid LED bars are not self-adhesive, so plan your mounting method before you start. Many installers simply screw the bar to the surface, while others use double-sided 3M acrylic tape for LED strips when drilling is not an option — on a painted MDF valance, a glass display case or a finished ceiling, for example. Aluminum cuts cleanly with a fine-tooth saw or a mitre saw, so you can shorten a bar to your exact cabinet run, and cut the strip itself only on its marked cut points. Slide the strip into the channel, press the diffuser in place, and finish both ends with the proper end caps for your bar type — that small detail is what makes an installation look factory-made. Leave your power connection at the end that is easiest to reach for future service.
Where it works best
In a home, this profile is the go-to for under-cabinet kitchen lighting, bathroom vanities and mirrors, staircase nosings, bookcase and pantry shelves, headboards, basement ceilings and garage workbenches. On the commercial side, it belongs in retail display shelving, restaurant and hotel bars, reception counters, office millwork, and any place where the strip would otherwise be visible to customers. Anywhere you can see the source directly, a diffused LED aluminum channel is the difference between glare and a comfortable, even line of light.
