Built to protect and finish your LED strips
The 1M U-Shape Aluminium Bar for LED Strips is a rigid extruded aluminum channel with a simple, honest job: hold your tape light straight, shield it, and spread its light evenly. The U-shaped body creates a tray in which the strip sits, while the included diffuser snaps over the top to soften the output. Aluminum is the material of choice here because it pulls heat away from the LEDs, and heat is the number-one enemy of any LED light strip. A tape glued directly to wood, melamine or drywall has nowhere to send that heat; mounted in an aluminum extrusion, it runs cooler and keeps its brightness longer.
Light quality and beam direction
Without a channel, you see hot spots — a row of bright dots along the tape. With the diffuser supplied with this U-channel LED profile, those dots blend into a continuous band of light, close to a neon or linear fixture look. The U shape also controls direction: the sides of the profile block spill light and give you a straight downward (or forward) lighting angle. That's exactly what you want above a countertop, where glare bouncing off a backsplash or a glossy cabinet door is the usual complaint, or inside a display case where light should land on the merchandise, not in your customer's eyes.

Installation and mounting tips
Plan your run first: measure the cabinet, shelf or cove, then combine 1 m sections to cover the length, cutting the last piece to size with a fine-tooth blade or mitre saw (file the cut edge before sliding the diffuser back on). Because the bar has no adhesive, mount it with a double-sided 3M acrylic tape — the recommended method for a fast, clean install under cabinets — or with mechanical fasteners where the surface is textured, greasy or subject to heat. Choose the width that matches your tape: the thin profile suits narrow strips and tight reveals, the medium is the all-purpose choice, and the wide accepts broader tapes. Always leave the strip's solder pads and lead wire accessible at one end so you can route the wiring back to the driver discreetly, and finish both ends of the bar with the matching end caps for a truly built-in look.
Where it shines
Under kitchen cabinets and range hoods, over bathroom vanities and mirrors, along bookcases, wine cellars and pantry shelves, in toe-kicks and stair details, inside closets, and as indirect cove lighting in living rooms and basements. On the commercial side, it's a workhorse for retail shelving and jewellery displays, bar and restaurant back-bars, office reception desks, hotel corridors, salon stations and trade-show booths. For contractors working with millwork and finished carpentry, a rigid LED channel is also the easiest way to guarantee a straight, repeatable line across multiple cabinets — no sagging tape, no visible glue line. No spec sheet or IES file is listed for this accessory, so if you have a specific strip width or a tricky recess in mind, note your dimensions before choosing between the thin, medium and wide versions.
