Built for clean, dot-free light
The heart of this kit is the Epistar 3528 SMD chip, densely mounted at 120 LED per metre over a 5-metre (16 ft) flexible circuit. That density matters: the closer the emitters, the smoother the line of light, which is exactly what you want when the tape is visible under an upper cabinet or reflected off a glossy backsplash. The tape is self-adhesive, so it presses directly onto a clean, dry surface, and it can be cut every 3 LEDs — every 2.5 cm — at the marked cut points. The iP20 version of the strip measures 8 mm wide, slim enough to tuck into an aluminum channel, behind a valance or along a narrow shelf edge.
Light quality and colour
Typical output is 800 lumens per metre, which will vary slightly depending on the colour temperature you choose. Available single colours are 2700K, 3000K, 4000K and 6000K: warm 2700K or 3000K for cabinetry, living spaces and hospitality, neutral 4000K for kitchens and work zones, and crisp 6000K for garages, workshops and retail display where you want maximum punch. The 120-degree beam angle spreads light wide, so a single run washes a counter or a cove evenly instead of throwing a narrow stripe.
Electrical and installation details
This is a 12VDC low-voltage product drawing 9.6 W per metre. Size your supply at roughly 12 W per metre and use a Class 2 transformer, as required. The kit is dimmable through a remote, a wall panel or a dimmable power supply, so you can drop the level for evening ambiance and bring it back up for prep work. Keep the run within the operating temperature range of 40 °C to -10 °C, feed longer installations from both ends or in separate runs to avoid voltage drop, and always de-energize before cutting or soldering. The kit includes a 122 cm AC high-voltage wire, and its packaged size is 14 cm x 6 cm x 3.5 cm.

Applications and documentation
Concrete uses come up every week: undercabinet kitchen lighting that finally makes the counter usable, toe-kick and island accents, closet and pantry shelving, cove lighting along a crown moulding, display case and shelf lighting in a boutique, backlit reception counters, basement and home-theatre ambiance. It's a favourite of cabinetmakers, interior designers and general contractors precisely because it's fast, low-voltage and easy to adapt on site. Québec's Building Code exempts LED strips under 30V from certification requirements since they are not light fixtures, but this certified 12V LED strip gives you documented compliance for demanding clients and for projects located in the United States.
