Built around a proven chip
This kit is built on Epistar 3528 SMD diodes spaced at 60 LEDs per metre, a density that gives you a soft, even wash of light rather than harsh hot spots. The 120-degree lighting angle spreads light wide, which is exactly what you want when the strip sits close to a surface — under a cabinet, inside a niche or along a cove. The strip carries an IP65+ rating with a 10 mm strip width, so it stands up to dust and the occasional splash or wipe-down, a real advantage above a kitchen counter or in a laundry room. The model reference is MTL-FP8AEHWK-60AXX, and the kit's overall size is 7 cm x 2.7 cm x 4 cm.
Light quality and colour choice
Typical output is 400 lumens per metre, which will vary slightly depending on the Kelvin you choose. And there is real choice here: 3000K warm white for a cozy, lamp-like feel in bedrooms and living rooms, 4500K natural white for a balanced, neutral light in kitchens and offices, and 6000K cool white for crisp visibility in garages, workshops and display cases. Red, green and blue are also available when the project calls for colour — signage, bars, gaming rooms or seasonal accents. Think about the finish of your surfaces too: warm white flatters wood and brass, while cool white makes white quartz and stainless steel pop.

Electrical, dimming and installation
Sizing the power supply is the step that makes or breaks a LED strip lighting install. The strip pulls 4.8W per metre, but you should budget 6W per metre so the driver isn't running at its limit — for a 4 m run, that means planning your load accordingly. The strip must be powered by a Class 2 transformer, and it is cULus Listed under E498952, meeting both Canadian and American electrical codes, which inspectors and contractors appreciate. Cut only on the marked cut points, every 3 LEDs (about 5 cm), and always cut with the power off. The 120 cm DC low voltage wire lets you route discreetly to your transformer. For dimming, use one of the compatible dimmers offered in the pulldown menu on this page — that's how you take a bright task light down to a soft evening glow.
Where it works and what's available
Concrete examples: a run under upper kitchen cabinets to light the countertop, a strip inside a glass display case at a jewellery or pastry shop, accent lighting along a cove ceiling in a basement theatre, closet and pantry shelving, toe-kick lighting in a bathroom vanity, or a subtle line along stair stringers. Its operating range of 40C to -10C makes it comfortable in unheated but sheltered spots like a garage or a three-season room. A technical PDF spec sheet is available in the Documentation tab of this page for the full details, and it's worth downloading before you order so you can confirm your lengths, your Kelvin and your transformer sizing in one shot.
