Built small, built bright
The Flat G4 5630 LED Bulb packs 15 x 5630 SMD LEDs onto an uncoated plastic board, a flat "pancake" format that stays slim inside puck lights, under-cabinet modules and shallow marine or RV fixtures. The 5630 chip is one of the brightest SMD packages used in G4 retrofits, and here it is paired with Epistar chips for consistent output from lamp to lamp. With a footprint of 30 mm long (44 mm with pins) x 30 mm wide, it drops into housings where a bulky tower-style G4 LED simply will not close.
Light quality and dimming
The 180-degree beam angle is what makes this flat design so useful: instead of a narrow spot, the light washes forward across the counter, the shelf or the cabin wall, with fewer dark corners. Choose warm white at 2800-3200K for a cozy, halogen-like glow, or cool white at 5500-6500K for a crisp, daylight-style beam over work surfaces. Output reaches 330 lumens in warm white and 340 lumens in cool white, while drawing just 6W. The bulb is dimmable, so on a compatible 12V DC dimming system you can drop the level for evening ambiance and bring it back up for prep work or reading.
Electrical and installation notes
This lamp runs on 12V DC only. Before installing, confirm that your fixture, transformer or vehicle circuit is truly DC — many household G4 fixtures use an AC transformer, and installing a DC bulb on an AC circuit will damage both the bulb and the fixture, a situation not covered by warranty. Installation itself is simple: cut power, let the old halogen capsule cool, pull it straight out of the G4 bi-pin socket, then push the new flat LED in without touching the LED surface. Because LEDs run far cooler than halogen, they are a smart upgrade inside enclosed wood cabinets, range hoods and vehicle headliners where heat used to be a concern.
