What the WL-BOX2 actually does
Think of the WL-BOX2 Wi-Fi Hub as a translator. Your RF multi-zone controllers speak radio frequency; your phone speaks Wi-Fi. The hub sits between them, receives commands from the app and rebroadcasts them over RF 2.4GHz to every paired controller in the house. That is why you can be at work, at the arena or on vacation and still dim the hallway LED strip lights or shut off a forgotten display. Without the hub, your RF remote only works within line of sight of the room; with it, the whole installation joins your smart home.

Installation and app setup
Installation takes minutes and no electrical work. Power the hub from a USB Type-C source, place it somewhere central and open so the RF signal reaches your controllers within the 30m control distance, then download the free "Tuya Smart" app on the App Store or Google Play (English only), create your account and add the device. Make sure your phone is on the 2.4GHz band of your router during pairing — many Canadian routers broadcast both 2.4GHz and 5GHz under the same name, and pairing on 5GHz is the single most common reason a hub refuses to connect. Once the hub is online, pair each zone one at a time and rename them (Kitchen, Cove, Bar, Stairs) so the app matches how you actually live in the space.
Compatibility you can count on
The WL-BOX2 is built for Multi Zone controllers only. According to the spec sheet, it works with the WL5 Wi-Fi all-in-one controller, the ML5 Matter + HomeKit all-in-one controller and the PZ5 Zigbee + Wi-Fi all-in-one controller, plus the FUT036 for single colour strips, the FUT035 and FUT035 (Original) for CCT adjustable white, the FUT037, FUT037 (Original) and FUT043 for RGB, and the FUT038 and FUT044 for RGBW. If your controller is a single-zone model, the hub will not pair with it — check the model number before you buy so your project goes smoothly the first time.
Where it earns its keep
In a home, one hub can handle kitchen under-cabinet lighting, a basement ceiling cove, a bedroom headboard and exterior soffit runs all at once, each as its own zone with its own colour and brightness. In business, it is the easy answer for a café that wants warm white in the morning and a deeper scene at night, a boutique that changes window colours by season, or a gym that resets its lighting between classes. Contractors love it because the client gets a phone-controlled system without rewiring, and because scenes can be programmed on site in one visit.
