Two code requirements, one fixture
The TUROLIGHT TL-RMES302-5W belongs to the TL Series of LED emergency combo signs. Instead of installing a separate running man exit sign and a separate emergency light above the same door, you mount a single unit that carries both. The illuminated pictogram marks the egress route continuously, while the two integrated lamp heads stand by on the internal battery. When normal power fails, the heads switch on instantly and light the path of travel. Three pictograms are included, so you can configure the sign single face or double face, with or without a directional arrow, right on site — no need to guess the orientation before the order goes in.
Construction and mounting
The metal housing is built for commercial traffic: hallways, stairwells, loading areas and back-of-house corridors where a plastic body gets knocked around. It is universal mounting capable — wall, ceiling or side/end mount — so the same unit works over a door, under a soffit or off a corridor wall. The two 5W lamp heads are adjustable, which lets you aim light down a corridor in one direction and toward a stair landing in the other. A test switch and a charge indicator light are built in for the routine functional tests that building owners and inspectors expect. The unit is IP20 and damp location rated, and the operating temperature range of -10˚C to +40˚C covers unheated vestibules and service corridors.
Battery, runtime and remote heads
Inside is a 36W 6V battery pack using a lead-acid 6V/6Ah battery, supporting 0.5 hrs of emergency operation. The housing also allows for the addition of remote heads, which is where the runtime chart matters. At 30 minutes of runtime on a 36W pack, the unit supports 11 additional 5W heads, or 4 heads in the arrow 2pcs / without arrow 1pc column; at 60 minutes, 6 and 2; at 90 minutes, 3 and 1. Turolight recommends loading the battery pack 20% under its maximum, and notes that actual wattage loads may be affected by the length and gauge of the wire runs used to connect the remote heads — plan your conductor sizing accordingly on long runs.
