Built for the outdoors, sized for a standard box
The RT05 is a screwless step light, which means the finished look is a clean rectangle of light with no visible fasteners breaking up the face. The engine measures L120 x W74 x H38 mm (L4 11/16 x W2 7/8 x H1 1/2") and drops into a cutout of 4-3/4" × 2-7/8" (121 × 73 mm), sized to work with a single gang junction box. Trims are available in black, brushed nickel and white, so the fixture can disappear into dark siding, echo stainless railing hardware or blend with painted risers. The whole assembly is rated IP67, so rain, sprinkler spray, melting snow and wash-down are not a concern.
Light quality that flatters the material
At 145 lumens from just 2W, this is deliberately low, comfortable light — the goal is to graze a surface, not to floodlight it. The 4000K natural white output keeps grey stone, cedar and poured concrete looking like themselves rather than yellowed, and a CRI greater than 90 renders wood grain, brick and paint colours faithfully. On a run of stairs, that colour accuracy is what makes the nosing of each tread legible at a glance, which is the whole point of a step light. The engine is dimmable, so a series of them along a deck or corridor can be tuned down to a soft evening level.

Wiring and installation
Because this is the high voltage version, the engine connects straight to a 120V AC circuit — no remote driver, no transformer, no low-voltage home run back to a panel. That removes components, shortens the bill of materials and cuts labour on multi-fixture runs. The 12" (30 cm) lead gives enough slack to make up connections comfortably inside the junction box. Rough in your single gang boxes at the height you want on the riser, wall or stair stringer, run the branch circuit as you normally would, land the leads, and set the engine and trim. Connect the run to a compatible dimmer if you want adjustable levels, and confirm all work meets the Canadian Electrical Code and local requirements — line-voltage exterior work should be done by a licensed electrician.
