The RT05 is a screwless step light: no visible fasteners on the face, just a clean rectangular trim that sits flush with the finished surface. The recessed body protects the LED module from kicks, snow shovels, luggage wheels and the everyday abuse of a busy stairway, while the horizontal orientation aims the aperture down and out across the tread instead of into people's eyes. Trim colours in the RT05 family include Black, Brushed Nickel and White, so the fixture can vanish into dark stone, match stainless hardware or blend with painted drywall and trim.
Light quality that flatters the surface
At 4000K natural white, this version gives a neutral, modern light that keeps grey concrete looking grey and wood looking warm-toned without going yellow — ideal when the same stair is used day and night. The CRI >90 rendering is well above the usual outdoor accent fixture, so brick, granite, cedar and composite decking all keep their real colour. With 145 lumens per unit, a run of RT05 lights placed every few steps builds a continuous, glare-controlled guide line rather than harsh hot spots, and the fixture is dimmable when you want an even softer late-night level.

Wiring and installation
Because it is a high voltage 120V step light, the RT05 connects straight to line voltage — no driver box, no low-voltage transformer, no extra enclosure to hide in the wall cavity. Mount it to a standard single gang junction box, make the connections inside the box with the 12" (30 cm) lead, and set the fixture into a 4-3/4" × 2-7/8" (121 × 73 mm) opening. In new construction, ask the electrician to rough in the boxes at a consistent height above each tread and on the same side of the stairwell so the finished run looks deliberate. In renovations, an existing single gang box behind a riser, a deck skirt or a corridor wall is often all you need. Work must follow the Canadian Electrical Code and local requirements; for exterior use, keep gaskets seated and connections inside a properly rated box.
