Why an asymmetric step light?
A standard round light spreads its beam equally around its centre. The WLTDR-1W30K-90-ABK uses an asymmetric optic instead: its light is directed, so a fixture set low beside a staircase or along a hallway puts the glow on the floor and the tread rather than toward the eyes of people walking by. With a 45° beam, it is a precise, comfortable choice for stairs, landings, corridors and entrances where glare would be a nuisance.
Light quality and control
The warm 3000K colour temperature creates a welcoming atmosphere, and the 90 CRI keeps flooring, wood stair nosings and painted surfaces true to colour. At 1.4W per fixture, a series of lights can stay on all evening. With compatible electronic or magnetic dimming drivers, the light dims from 100% to 5%, so a stairwell can go from a bright welcome to a subtle night-light level.
Installation
This is a hardwire low-voltage fixture on a 24V constant-voltage system that requires a remote power supply. The toolless push-in connector accepts LVT cable and supports daisy-chain wiring from one light to the next, which keeps long runs tidy. The aluminum housing includes strain relief and torsion clips for a firm hold in the wall, and the fixture rotates so the light can be oriented exactly as needed. It is IC rated; in insulated walls, the manufacturer requires a vapor barrier (WL-VBE) and a pre-mounting plate, sold separately. Indoor use only, in dry and damp locations; cETLus certified.
More than a stair light
Beyond corridors and stairs, this small asymmetric fixture is suggested for accent illumination, display lighting, under-cabinet lighting and wall washing — for example, highlighting a textured feature wall, a bar front or a built-in bookcase. The round anodized black trim gives it a bold, modern look; the same light is also available with a square trim and in flat white or aluminum.
