What is inside the railThis 8-foot
track section is made of
extruded aluminum. PVC insulators hold its 12 gauge flat conductor wiring, and the copper electrical conductors are concealed in an insulating thermoplastic, low-profile cross-section, so they stay out of sight. A polarity groove on the face of the track indicates the location of the grounding conductor, a simple visual cue that helps you orient every connector and fixture. The profile measures 21 mm by 35 mm, and the brushed nickel finish gives it a warm metallic look.
Powering the trackTrack lighting is a single circuit electrical distribution system designed to supply power to lighting units in flexible ways. This
single-circuit track is intended for
120V applications: its single hot and neutral conductors are rated for 20 amps per branch circuit, and the system electrical rating is 20A, 120V, 60Hz. You can feed it from a junction box at the end of the track with a live-end (with or without canopy), anywhere along its length with a center feed that includes a canopy cover, or from a receptacle with a wired-end. As always, turn the power off at the breaker and have a
qualified electrician complete the connection according to your provincial electrical code.
Shaping the layoutThese tracks can be joined together using any of the compatible
track connectors: I-connector (two sections at 180°), L-connector (two sections at 90°), T-connector (three sections at 90°), X-connector (four sections at 90°) and flexible connector (two sections at varying angles). An end cap closes the run, and hollow stem rods are offered for track fixtures and to
suspend the track from the ceiling. Accessories are not included. To fine-tune the length in the same finish, add the
2-foot track in brushed nickel; for a different look, the same section exists as an
8-foot track in black or an
8-foot track in white.
Projects that suit itBrushed nickel
track lighting feels at home in transitional kitchens, dining rooms, bathrooms with nickel fixtures and upscale retail. Run it over a long island in Laval, along a corridor of framed photos in Oakville, or above the showcases of a gift shop in Charlottetown to light each product. For
commercial track lighting, the long section reduces the number of joints on big ceilings, and it is made for residential and commercial projects alike. The spec sheet, with drawing, ordering guide and accessory list, is available in the Documentation tab.
