Construction and wiringThe LCTK-6002-BK is an
extruded aluminum track section with flat, solid integral conductors rated at 20 amps. Its copper conductors, in 12 gauge, are held by PVC insulators and concealed in an insulating thermoplastic insert with a low profile. The track is a
single-circuit design for 120 V applications, with single hot and neutral conductors rated for 20 amps per branch circuit. A
polarity groove on the face of the track indicates the location of the grounding conductor, a simple visual cue during installation.
Electrical rating and power feedsThe system electrical rating is
20 A, 120 V, 60 Hz. Track lighting of this type is a single-circuit electrical system designed to supply power to lighting units in flexible ways: you bring power in, then place and move your heads along the track. Depending on your ceiling, the accessories of the system include a live end that feeds power from the end of the track, a live end with canopy fed from a junction box, a
center feed that provides power anywhere along the track from a junction box, and a wired end that takes power from a receptacle. Accessories are sold separately.
Building a layoutSections join together with the
compatible connectors of the same track system: an I-connector for straight runs at 180°, an L-connector for 90° corners, a T-connector, an X-connector and a flexible connector for varying angles. An
end cap finishes the track neatly, and a hollow stem rod kit, with ceiling canopy, mounting brackets and hardware, lets you suspend the track. The 2 ft length is ideal for short runs and for completing longer ones: combine it with the black
4 ft track and
8 ft track to get closer to the length you need. This length also exists as a
brushed nickel 2 ft track and a
silver 2 ft track.
Where a short track shinesAt home, a
2 ft track is perfect above a kitchen sink or a coffee station, in an entryway, over a dresser or a piece of art, in a walk-in closet or in a small home office.
