IC rated and airtight
The RF402CGU10ICAT is a 4" remodel housing that combines two key features for Canadian homes. IC rated means the housing is designed to be in direct contact with thermal insulation, so it can be installed in a top-floor ceiling under the attic. Airtight means it limits air movement between the room and the ceiling cavity, helping to keep heated air inside and reduce the drafts and condensation risks that come with ordinary open housings.
GU10 base for LED bulbs
The housing is fitted with a GU10 base, rated 120V and 8W according to its name. GU10 bulbs lock in with a short push and twist, and LED GU10 lamps are widely available in different beam spreads and colour temperatures. That makes it easy to create focused accent lighting on artwork, shelving or a kitchen island, or to light a hallway with a crisp, even look. Replacing a bulb takes seconds and needs no tools.
C style clips for remodel installation
Designed for renovation, the housing goes in from below through a round opening cut in the existing ceiling. Once it is pushed into place, the screw-down C style clips are tightened so they clamp firmly against the back of the drywall. No need to open the ceiling or reach the joists from above, which keeps dust and patching to a minimum.
Installation tips
Check each location for joists, ducts and pipes, trace and cut the opening, and fish the supply cable. Connect it according to the installation instructions and your local electrical code, push the housing into the ceiling and screw down the clips. Finish with a compatible 4" trim and the GU10 LED bulb. Have a licensed electrician make all connections to the circuit.
