IC rated and airtight for insulated ceilings
The RF402CICAT is a 4" remodel housing combining two features that matter in Canadian homes. IC rated means it is designed to be in direct contact with thermal insulation, so it can go into a top-floor ceiling right under the attic. Airtight means it restricts air movement between the living space and the ceiling cavity, helping to keep heated air inside, cut drafts and reduce the moisture that ordinary open housings let through.
E26 base for everyday LED bulbs
The housing is fitted with an E26 base, the standard screw-in socket of household bulbs, and its name specifies 120V and a 10W LED lamp. That means you can use widely available LED bulbs, choose the colour of light that suits each room, and replace a bulb in seconds with no tools. It is a simple, familiar setup that any homeowner can maintain for years.
C style clips for remodel installation
Designed for renovation, the housing is inserted from below through a round opening cut in the existing ceiling. Once in place, the screw-down C style clips are tightened so they clamp against the back of the drywall and hold the housing securely. No need to open the ceiling or reach the joists from above, so dust and patching stay to a minimum.
Installation tips
Check each location for joists, ducts and pipes, trace and cut the opening, and fish the supply cable. Connect it according to the installation instructions and your local electrical code, push the housing into the ceiling and screw down the clips. Finish with a compatible 4" trim, such as a reflector, wall wash or retractable trim, and the LED bulb. Have a licensed electrician make all connections to the circuit.
