A round gimbal trim built to stay put
The RTM4018R3-WH is a 4" round trim with a tilting gimbal for line-voltage recessed lighting. Its body is precision spun steel, and three chrome plated steel clips hold it firmly inside the housing for extra rigidity. Once you tilt the centre toward your target, it maintains that angle, so the light stays on the painting, the counter or the display you chose instead of drifting back to straight down. The white finish gives a crisp, discreet look on a painted ceiling.
Lamp and electrical details
This trim is designed for a PAR 20 lamp, with a maximum rating of 50W. Always respect this maximum wattage marked on the trim and on the housing, and choose a lamp whose shape and size match the trim opening. A PAR 20 LED lamp is a popular choice to cut energy use and heat compared with an older halogen lamp while keeping a focused, directional beam. For a warm, cosy living room pick a warm white lamp; for a kitchen, workshop or store, a cooler white can make colours and details pop.
Installation tips
The trim is made for 4" medium base recessed housings. Turn off the power at the breaker, screw the lamp into the socket, then push the trim into the housing and let the three clips grip the inside wall. Tilt the gimbal to aim the beam and check that the trim sits flush against the ceiling. Because the trim is changed from below, it is a fast job for a contractor or a handy homeowner who wants to refresh several pot lights in one afternoon.
Where to use it
Use this adjustable recessed trim to highlight a fireplace, a stone or brick wall, family photos or a bookcase; to add task light over a kitchen island or a desk; or to create layers of light in a basement family room. In commercial spaces, it is ideal for boutiques, galleries, restaurants, hotel lobbies and showrooms where merchandise and décor need to stand out. Installing several trims in a row along a hallway or a feature wall gives a balanced, even look.
Care and finish
Wipe the white trim with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth, with the power off and the lamp cool. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could dull the finish. Other finishes of the same trim family exist, so you can match the rest of your fixtures; the white version remains the most discreet choice for a standard white ceiling and an easy match for white walls and mouldings.
