A low-profile gimbal trim built for accent lightingThe RTM418T-FWH is a round 4" trim with a tilting gimbal, designed for accent and task lighting. Its powder-coated steel body keeps a slim, low profile on the ceiling, and the tilting centre lamp holder maintains the angle you choose, so the light stays on the artwork, counter or display instead of drifting back to straight down. The flat white finish is matte and discreet, ideal on a freshly painted white ceiling.
Lamp holder and rigidityThis trim is rated for an MR16 lamp with a maximum of 75W. Two enhanced side pressure clips in the lamp holder are self-centring, so the lamp sits straight and the beam goes where you aim it. The lamp is loaded from the rear of the trim. Two stainless steel torsion springs clip into the housing and give the trim extra rigidity, which keeps it flush against the ceiling after you adjust the gimbal. An LED MR16 lamp is a popular choice to reduce energy use and heat compared with an older halogen lamp while keeping a tight, directional beam.
Installation tipsTurn off the power at the breaker. Insert the MR16 lamp from the rear into the lamp holder and connect it to the socket, then squeeze the two torsion springs and slide them into the brackets of the recessed housing. Push the trim up until it sits flat against the ceiling and tilt the centre to aim the beam. Always check that the lamp, the trim and the housing are compatible and respect the 75W maximum. Because everything is done from below, a contractor or a handy homeowner can refresh several pot lights in a single afternoon.
Where to use itUse this adjustable recessed trim to highlight a stone or brick wall, family photos, a bookcase or a fireplace; to add task light above a desk or a kitchen island; or to build layers of light in a living room or a home theatre. In commercial spaces, it suits boutiques, showrooms, galleries, restaurants and hotel lobbies where products and décor must stand out. A row of trims along a hallway or a feature wall gives a balanced, even effect.
Choosing the finishThe same gimbal trim is offered in several finishes. Flat white is the most discreet on a matte white ceiling, while the
black 4" MR16 gimbal trim creates a modern contrast or blends into a dark or exposed ceiling. To clean, wipe with a soft, dry cloth with the power off and the lamp cool, and avoid abrasive cleaners that could mark the powder coat.
