A 120V strip built for long runs
Most colour-changing tape tops out after a few meters because low-voltage current fades along the run. This kit works differently: it is a true 120V RGB LED strip, so a single set-up can stretch up to 50 meters from one power outlet while requiring only 400W in total. That means fewer outlets to add, fewer junction points to seal and a much cleaner install on a long deck, a roofline or a warehouse mezzanine. The strip is built around 60 individual 5050 chips per meter, the larger three-in-one chip format that mixes red, green and blue inside a single diode for even, saturated colour along the whole length.
Colour, output and consumption
Power draw sits between 7 and 9 W per meter depending on the colour you choose — a solid single colour pulls less than a full white-ish blend of all three channels. That flexibility lets you dial in a soft blue for an evening patio, a warm amber tone for a restaurant terrace or a bright multicolour sequence for a holiday display, all from the same run of LED strip lighting. Compared with old incandescent rope light, an LED ribbon like this one delivers the same visual punch for a fraction of the energy and runs cool to the touch, which matters when the strip is tucked against wood, vinyl or aluminum trim.

Installation and controller placement
Plan the run first: measure the full path, mark where the strip turns a corner, and decide where the controller will live before you fix anything. The controller is infrared, so the remote needs a clear shot at it — mount it under a soffit, behind a post, on the inside face of a railing or near the outlet, but never sealed inside a closed enclosure or behind a metal panel. Its two molded brackets let you screw it to wood, PVC or masonry in seconds. If your project calls for several separate sections, repeat the same approach for each one so every controller keeps its own line of sight to the remote. Since the kit is rated for outdoor use, it handles decks, fences and rooflines through Canadian seasons, but always keep the connection point protected and follow local electrical code for any permanent 120V connection.
Where it earns its keep
Residential and commercial projects both love this kit. At home: backyard decks, pergolas, pool surrounds, chalet balconies, garage façades, basements, home bars, theatre rooms and kids' gaming setups. In business: restaurant patios, bar fronts, hotel entrances, car washes, retail window displays, signage accents and seasonal installations that get changed with a press of the remote instead of a ladder. For contractors, the long single-outlet run is the real selling point — one circuit, one controller, one afternoon, and a 50 meter façade that changes colour on demand.
