What it is and how it works
The CONT24K is a two-piece kit: an infrared LED control box/receiver and a 24 key remote control. The receiver is wired inline between a 12V power supply and an RGB LED strip, reading the signal from the handheld remote and switching the red, green and blue channels accordingly. Because it is infrared, you simply point the remote toward the receiver — keep the little IR eye visible rather than buried behind drywall or inside a closed metal channel, and you will get the full working range of about 10 m. It is a cost-effective, genuinely simple way to control an RGB LED strip, with a set of options that suits most users without any app, pairing or programming.
Colours, dimming and effects
Full RGB mode lets you select 16 individual solid colours straight from the keypad — warm reds and oranges, greens, blues, purples — plus white. Dim control means you can settle on one colour and dial the brightness up or down, which is what most people actually want day to day: a soft blue wash in a theatre room, a bright white for working at the bar. When you want movement, the 5 light patterns cover Static, Flash, Strobe, Fade-change and RGB Smooth-change, and the 16 speed settings let you tune Flash, Strobe, Fade-change and RGB Smooth-change from a gentle drift to a fast pulse. That range is why the same controller works for a calm bedroom cove and a lively games room.

Installation and compatibility
Plan the run before you cut anything: power supply first, then the controller, then the strip. Respect the polarity and the channel markings (V+, R, G, B) so your colours land where they should, and keep the receiver somewhere accessible for battery changes and line-of-sight. This unit is for 12V RGB LED strip only — do not use it on 24V equipment or on single-colour, tunable-white or addressable strips. Keep the receiver dry and ventilated, and if a run is long, split it across zones so every section gets solid voltage. For a clean finish, run your tape inside an aluminum channel and leave the IR receiver head just outside the profile.
Where it earns its keep
Homeowners use it for basement ceilings and coves, home theatres, kids' rooms, under kitchen cabinets, stair accents and backyard three-season rooms. Small businesses put it behind bars and reception desks, in retail window displays, restaurants, cafés, gyms, barbershops and photo studios, where staff need to change the mood without calling anyone. Contractors like it because it is an easy add-on at the end of a led strip lighting install and requires no training for the client — hand them the remote and they get it. No spec sheet or IES file is listed for this item; everything you need is in the product details above, and the two-piece kit arrives ready to wire and use.
