Built to run long, built to stay outside
The real headache with low-voltage tape light is distance: voltage drop, extra power supplies, injection points every few metres. This 120V LED strip sidesteps all of that. A single 50-metre roll — 5000 cm end to end — runs from one power connection, which means fewer components on the wall, fewer failure points and a much faster install on long architectural runs. The profile stays slim at 1.4 cm wide and 0.7 cm high, so it tucks into coves, channels, soffit returns and railing undersides without being seen. IP67 waterproofing means it handles rain, snow, splashing and washdowns, and the operating range of -4°F (-20°C) to 122°F (50°C) covers a full Canadian year outdoors.
Light quality you can actually live with
Density matters. With 118 LEDs per metre of SMD 2835 chips spaced 8 mm apart, the light reads as a continuous line rather than a row of dots, especially behind a diffuser or inside a channel. Output lands at 1200 lumens per metre with a 120-degree beam, wide enough to wash a wall or a ceiling cove evenly. A CRI of 82 keeps colours natural — important when the strip is lighting merchandise, wood ceilings, stonework or a painted facade. Three colour temperatures are available: Warm White at 3000K to 3200K for cozy patios and living spaces, Natural White at 4000K to 4200K for balanced everyday light, and Cool White at 5000K to 5200K for crisp, high-visibility work and display areas.

Installation and electrical notes
Plan your run first: the strip can be cut every 33 cm, so measure your roofline, cove or railing and land your cuts on the marked lines. Because the backing is not self-adhesive, the proven method is to hold the strip in position with double-sided tape, then secure it permanently with mounting clips at regular intervals — that mechanical hold is what keeps a long outdoor run tight through wind, freeze-thaw cycles and summer heat. The strip connects to a standard 120V supply and is not dimmable, so pair it with a simple switch, a timer or a smart plug rather than a dimmer. For clean edges and extra protection on exposed installations, running the strip inside an aluminum channel with a diffuser is always a smart upgrade.
Where it earns its keep, and what you get with it
Residential: roof edges and soffits, gazebos, cabanas, pergolas, decks, balcony railings, garage perimeters, basement coves and workshop benches. Commercial: storefront outlines, restaurant patios, hotel walkways, car washes, parking garages, loading docks, cold rooms and display walls where a long uninterrupted line of light is the whole design. Anywhere you would otherwise splice together a dozen short low-voltage kits, this 50-metre LED strip does it in one go.
