What this bracket is and what it replacesThe
"U" bracket — also known as a
yoke or U-mount — is a single piece of hardware shaped like the letter U that cradles the body of a flood light between its two arms. The fixture pivots between those arms; the base of the U bolts to your surface. People order it for two reasons: to replace an original bracket that has been bent, corroded or lost, and to add a secure mounting option where the hardware that came in the box simply doesn't fit the wall, the pole or the soffit in front of them. It's one of those small parts that decides whether a job looks clean and stays aimed, or whether you're back on the ladder next spring.
Build and outdoor durabilityThis
flood light bracket is made for outdoor exposure and resists rust and weathering season after season — important on a Canadian exterior where a mounting point takes rain, ice, snow load, road salt spray and constant vibration from wind. The black finish blends with the housing of most outdoor floods, so the bracket disappears visually and the light does the talking. Pre-drilled slots accept common fasteners and allow small alignment corrections during installation, which matters when you're anchoring into brick, block, treated wood or a steel pole and your holes can't be perfect. The pivot points hold the tilt angle firmly once tightened, keeping the beam where you set it.
Technical specificationsSKU: LCFLD-BRACKET-U-BK
Type: "U" bracket (yoke / trunnion-style mount) for LED floodlights
Colour: black
Use: flat surface, wall, pole, ceiling, soffit or under-eave mounting
Mounting holes: pre-drilled slots for common fasteners, with alignment adjustment
Adjustment: pivot points allowing tilt and angle locking
Environment: outdoor exposure, rust and weather resistant
Compatibility — check before you orderFloodlights are not standardized, so the single most important step is to measure the spacing between the mounting ears of your fixture and compare the hole pattern before ordering; several sizes exist to suit slim
panel-style floods as well as heavier area and sports-style fixtures. This U-style mount pairs naturally with compact outdoor floods like the
30-50-60W LED floodlight. If your fixture needs a different geometry, the family includes the
knuckle bracket for LED floodlight for a swivel-and-aim wall mount, the
trunnion bracket for LED floodlights, and the
pole bracket for LED floodlights for round or square poles on parking lots and yards.
Installation tips and real-world usesMount the bracket first, then attach the fixture, then run your wiring with a
drip loop so water runs away from the connection instead of tracking into it. Aim the light with the fasteners slightly loose, confirm the coverage after dark — a driveway, a loading dock, a storage yard, a barn wall, a hockey rink in the backyard — then tighten fully. For ceiling, soffit or under-eave work, the bracket can often be inverted so the fixture hangs below and points outward. Typical projects: relighting a garage or shop entrance, adding security lighting over a side door, lighting a commercial sign, aiming floods across a small parking area, or refreshing an old halogen installation with LED while reusing the same anchor points. Note that no spec sheet, IES file or installation video is listed in the Documentation tab for this accessory — so when in doubt, go by your fixture's own measurements.
