What exactly you are gettingThe
ZZPIPEMSSS is a two-in-one accessory: an
extension pipe and a
microwave motion occupation sensor mounted on a swivel. The pipe drops the sensor head away from the fixture body so the detection cone is not shadowed by the housing or the hood of a full cutoff wall pack, and the swivel joint lets you pivot the head down toward a doorway, out toward a driveway, or sideways along a wall. That adjustability is what separates a sensor that nuisance-trips on passing traffic from one that catches a delivery driver the second he steps onto your property. Because it is a SPECLITE part made for SPECLITE fixtures, the thread, the port and the wiring are already sorted — no adapters to source, no field improvising.
Why microwave instead of infraredA microwave (radar) sensor emits a signal and reads the change in its reflection, which means it detects
motion rather than a heat signature. Outdoors in Canada, that matters: heavy winter clothing masks body heat and cold air narrows the contrast an infrared eye relies on, while a microwave head keeps reading a person walking, a car rolling in, or a forklift crossing a bay door. It is also less affected by wind-driven temperature shifts. For an exterior
occupancy sensor application — rear exits, garbage enclosures, fire lanes, employee parking — this technology is the practical choice, and mounting it on a swivel pipe lets you trim the coverage so the light responds to your traffic and not the sidewalk next door.
Compatibility and installationThis extension pipe and motion sensor is suitable for four fixtures:
AW00CRFC0400PSS,
AW00CRFC0800PSS,
WP00CRFC0600PSS and
WP00CRFC1200PSS. Those wall packs are 120-347V, full cutoff, bronze with a clear lens, and each already carries an internal photocell, so the sensor layers occupancy control on top of dusk-to-dawn switching. Installation is straightforward for a qualified electrician: kill the power, remove the sensor port plug on the fixture, thread in the pipe, make up the connections, seal, then aim and lock the swivel head before you test at night. Walk the zone at the end of the job — that single step catches over-coverage before the tenant calls about a light that never shuts off. Note that this is an accessory only; it does not produce light on its own and must be paired with one of the listed fixtures.

Where it earns its keep, and documentationThink warehouses and shops that want the rear wall lit only when a truck backs in, apartment buildings that need safe stairwells without burning full output until 4 a.m., schools, garages, storage yards, restaurants with a back alley, and homeowners who want a bright, controlled light over the side door. Combined with the multi-wattage and selectable colour temperature options of the compatible fixtures, you build a complete exterior package: the
Wall pack full cutoff 40-30-20W for doorways and walkways, the
Wall pack full cutoff 80-70-60W for wider facades, and the
Wall pack SS 120-100-80W where you need serious output over a yard. The technical PDF for this accessory (FICHE TECHNIQUE ZZPIPEMSSS) is available in the Documentation tab — download it for your submittal package or to confirm fixture compatibility before you order.
