Built for SLM4 and LUNA4 slim downlights
The P-4024 is a new construction pre-mounting plate made for the SLM4 and LUNA4 families of slim, low-profile LED downlights. Because these fixtures are so thin, they are often installed without a conventional housing. A pre-mounting plate gives them what a housing normally would: a defined location on the framing and a solid surface to work from, so the finished light sits flush and straight in the ceiling.
Why a 24" plate
The 24" length gives you a wide, stable base to fasten across the framing in the joist bay, and room to position the opening exactly where your lighting plan wants it rather than where a joist happens to be. That flexibility is what makes a row of slim pot lights look perfectly spaced from below, even when the framing is not perfectly regular.
Installation tips
Lay out the lights on the floor or with a laser, transfer the marks to the framing, then fasten a plate at each location while the ceiling is open. Check the lines from one end of the room to the other before the drywall is hung. Once the ceiling is up, the plate guides the cut-out and supports the downlight during final installation. Follow the fixture installation instructions and your local electrical code, and have a licensed electrician make the circuit connections.
