What the P-3000 is for
The P-3000 is a 3" premounting plate designed to be used with 3" C style housings. It is installed while the ceiling is still open, before insulation and drywall are finished. Its job is to hold the recessed housing at the exact planned location and give it a stable support, so the finished ceiling shows neatly aligned pot lights instead of openings that drift from the layout.
Why a dedicated plate helps
Small 3" recessed lights are popular for their discreet look, but that also means any misalignment is easy to spot. Using a premounting plate matched to the 3" C style housing format keeps each fixture in the same position relative to the ceiling, row after row. It avoids improvised wood blocking and loose supports, reduces adjustment time, and gives the installer confidence that the housing will stay in place while the rest of the work goes on around it.
Installation advice
Mark your lighting plan on the joists first, then fasten the plates at each location and mount the 3" C style housings. Check spacing and alignment before insulation and drywall are installed; it is much easier to correct a position at this stage. Coordinate with the drywall crew so openings are cut exactly at the plate locations. The electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician following local codes.
Where it is used
This plate is well suited to kitchens, hallways, living rooms, home offices, bathrooms and basements in new construction or renovation projects where the ceiling is open. It is equally useful in small commercial spaces such as boutiques, salons and offices that use compact 3" recessed lighting. Keep enough plates on hand for the whole layout so every housing is supported the same way.
