Continuous COB light, not a row of dotsThe big difference between this ribbon and older
LED tape is the emitting surface. COB — chip-on-board — spreads a dense phosphor layer over the whole strip instead of spacing individual diodes along it, so the result is a single uninterrupted line of light. In practice that means no scalloping or "dotting" on a wall washed from a cove, no visible hot spots through a diffuser, and a much more convincing architectural effect in shallow channels where a traditional strip would show every chip. It also photographs beautifully, which matters in restaurants, boutiques and any space clients will share online.
Line-voltage simplicityThis is a
120V LED strip, meaning it connects to standard line voltage rather than a low-voltage secondary system. There's no separate remote driver to find room for, no derating math across a long run, and no visible brightness drop from the beginning of the run to the end. For a contractor, that turns a cove detail that used to require several feed points into one straightforward circuit, and for a homeowner it removes the most common source of confusion when buying
led strip lighting online.
Technical specificationsSKU: LCLS120V-12WM-COB-40K-25M
Type: COB LED strip
Voltage: 120V
Power: 12W per metre
Roll length: 25 m
Application: residential and commercial projects
Installation and compatibilityPlan the run first: measure the cove, soffit, shelf or toe-kick, then work out where the feed will enter so the connection stays hidden. Use the dedicated
120V power cord for 12W/m COB LED strip - 1.5m designed for this 12W/m COB family rather than improvising a connection. Mounting surfaces should be clean, dry and free of dust or grease so the strip stays put over time, and an aluminum channel with a diffuser is always a smart upgrade when the strip is visible or installed close to eye level — it protects the ribbon, helps with heat and softens the line even further. As with any line-voltage product, wiring and final connections should follow Canadian electrical code and, where required, be completed by a licensed electrician.
Where it earns its keep, and documentationThink kitchen cabinetry and island overhangs, basement and living-room coves, stairwell nosings, walk-in closets, headboards and home theatres on the residential side; then reception desks, retail shelving and display cases, bar fronts, restaurant banquettes, salon mirrors, corridors and office feature walls on the commercial side. The 25 m roll gives an installer enough material to treat a whole floor or several units in one go. Need the same output with a warmer, cozier tone or a longer roll for a big project? Compare the
