The role of a straight connector
A track lighting system is built from lengths of track that carry power and hold movable light heads. When one length is too short for the space, an I connector such as the IC6101-BN joins two sections end to end, in a straight line. It is the counterpart of the L connector, which turns a corner, and it allows a single run of track to follow a long wall, span a large room or cross a commercial space from one end to the other.
Why choose brushed nickel
The brushed nickel finish has a fine, satin texture that softens reflections and hides fingerprints better than a mirror finish. It is a natural match for kitchens with stainless steel appliances, bathrooms with nickel fixtures and living spaces with pewter or silver accents. On a white or light grey ceiling, a brushed nickel track reads as a discreet metallic line, elegant without being flashy. For the most harmonious result, keep the track, the connectors and the track heads in the same finish.
Installation advice
Check that your connector and your track belong to the same series before you start, since track profiles differ between systems. Turn the power off at the breaker, line up the two track ends, fit the connector following the instructions supplied with your track system, and fasten each section securely to the ceiling. Take your time with the alignment: a perfectly straight joint lets the light heads slide smoothly across it and keeps the run looking like one piece. Where local codes require it, the electrical connection should be made by a licensed electrician.
Design ideas
Run a single line of track down the length of a galley kitchen and aim the heads at the counters and the backsplash. Follow a hallway with a continuous run and light each framed photo individually. In a boutique, join several sections above the shelving so staff can re-aim the lights whenever displays change. In each case, the straight track connector is what makes a long, uninterrupted line possible.
Easy to adapt
One of the strengths of track lighting is flexibility. With the IC6101-BN, you can start with the length you need today and add another section later, whether you are extending into a new dining area or reorganizing a store layout, without replacing the whole system.
