The ATK12-BK is a 12-foot single circuit extruded aluminum track lighting rail from LITELINE, finished in black (BK), and it is the starting point of any serious track lighting layout. People call it a lighting track, a track rail, a track bar or simply the "rail" that track lighting heads clip onto — whatever you call it, its job is the same: distribute power along the ceiling so you can add, move and re-aim fixtures whenever the room changes. The ATK series is an extruded aluminum track made for use with A-Line track fixtures, and it is available in 2', 4', 6', 8' and 12' nominal lengths, so a long room can be covered with one clean, continuous line.

Built from 0.06" extruded aluminum with a 0.045" PVC bus bar support holding 12 gauge round bus bars, this rail is made to be worked with, not babied. A polarity groove on the face of the track shows you exactly where the grounding conductor sits, so orientation is never guesswork on site. The single circuit power distribution system carries a single hot and neutral conductor rated for a maximum capacity of 20 amps (2400 watts per circuit) at 120V, with copper electrical conductors concealed inside the low-profile thermo-plastic track section. The profile measures 5⁄8" (16mm) by 1 3⁄8" (35mm), and the ATK12 section runs 140 1⁄8" (3559mm) excluding end caps. It is surface mounted using the supplied mounting hardware, and it is cULus listed with a 5 year warranty.

Extrusion and construction
The ATK series is an extruded aluminum track designed for use with A-Line track fixtures, and the ATK12-BK is the 12-foot black section of that family. The body is constructed of 0.06" extruded aluminum with a 0.045" PVC bus bar support that holds 12 gauge round bus bars — a straightforward, rigid assembly that keeps the conductors aligned over a long span. A polarity groove is located on the face of the track to indicate the location of the grounding conductor, which makes it easy to keep multiple sections oriented the same way when you join a run. Nominal lengths in the series are 2', 4', 6', 8' and 12', so a lighting track layout can be built from a single long piece or from several joined sections.

Electrical and light distribution
This is a single circuit power distribution system designed to supply lighting units flexibly. Single hot and neutral conductors are rated for a maximum capacity of 20 Amps, meaning 2400 watts per circuit at 120V, and the copper electrical conductors are concealed inside a low-profile thermo-plastic track section. That headroom is what makes track so practical: modern LED track heads draw very little power, so a single run can carry a generous number of fixtures while you keep the total load within the rated capacity of the circuit. Because light is aimed rather than fixed in place, you get accent, wall-wash and task light from one power feed.

Installation, mounting and compatibility
The track is surface mounted using the supplied mounting hardware, and suspended mounting is available with accessories ordered separately — the RODR 12" hollow stem rod, the RODF hollow suspension rod kit, the ATKA250 4.75" sloped ceiling canopy kit for down-rods 2"-96", or aircraft cable sets such as the ATKM420 suspension kit with 180" aircraft cable. Feeds and joiners are chosen to match the layout: ATKP09 single circuit live end power feed, ATKP02 'L' and 'I' power feed connector, ATKP03 'T' power feed, ATKP04-1C 'X' power feed connector, ATKP08 center feed, ATKC01 'I' connector and ATKC05 flexible connector. Current limiters (ATKPCL-06-1C, ATKPCL-09-1C, ATKPCL-11-1C, with 1~14 amp options) are also part of the family. The track system is compatible with all A-Line and Juno style track fixtures, accessories and connectors. Note that the 12-foot option is not available in the US; an 8-foot section with a 4-foot section and a joiner achieves the same 12-foot run.

Applications and documentation
Twelve feet of continuous rail is ideal for a retail wall of merchandise, a gallery hallway, a restaurant banquette, an office corridor, a long kitchen island or a finished basement — one run, one feed, many aimable heads. Compatible LED track fixtures listed for the series include APOLLO LED, SORA LED, ATLAS, DELTA, FLEX, TEARDROP, DINE (T-LEDDNG), FOCUS (ATF8010), Flight (ATF7607 and ATF7610) and the ATF7250, ATF7415, ATF7425, ATF7509, ATF7545 and ATF7630 heads — including the 8.5W LED track head ATF7509-DTW-38-BK and its white version, the ATF7509-DTW-38-WH.
