Solid extruded aluminum construction
The LUX745 is an extruded aluminum U-shaped channel designed to be recessed into a surface so the body of the profile disappears and only the lit face remains visible. Aluminum is the material of choice for LED strip lighting housings because it is rigid enough to keep a perfectly straight light line over a long run, and because it acts as a heat sink: the tape transfers its heat to the extrusion instead of cooking itself inside a plastic cover. That matters most on continuous runs and in enclosed spots like cabinet boxes, cove details and stair nosings, where trapped heat is the number one enemy of LED tape.

Light quality and diffusers
A profile is not only a holder, it also shapes the light. With the clear diffuser you keep 98% of your strip's output while gaining a protective cover over the tape — ideal when you need maximum brightness from an IP20 LED strip in a cove or under a cabinet. With the frosted diffuser, the individual diodes blur into a smooth band of light, which is what you want on any surface people look at directly: kitchen backsplashes, shelving, bar fronts, display cases and headboards. Because the diffuser sits above the tape inside the aluminum extrusion, you also stop dust, grease and fingerprints from reaching the LEDs, which keeps the line looking clean years later.
Installation and compatibility
The profile accepts LED strips of less than 14 mm in width. Wide waterproof tapes such as IP67 and IP68 versions will not fit, so measure your strip before ordering. Recessed installation means routing or framing a channel that matches the profile's width and depth, then dropping the extrusion in flush with the finished surface; if you cannot cut into the substrate, the profile can instead be fixed with our sturdy double-sided tape. Cut the aluminum channel to length with a fine-tooth blade, deburr the edges, clean the inside before sticking down the tape, and always cut your LED strip on its marked cutting points. Plan where the driver connection enters the channel — at an end cap or through a discreet notch — and add matching end caps to finish each run. Long spans are easy to handle since each piece covers 8 feet, so a hallway cove or a full cabinet run needs fewer joints.
Applications and documentation
In homes, the LUX745 is the go-to for under-cabinet and above-cabinet kitchen lighting, ceiling coves in living rooms, basement bulkheads, stair lighting, closets, bathroom vanities and custom millwork. In commercial spaces, it lines retail shelving and display cases, reception desks, restaurant bars, office coves, hotel corridors and signage details — anywhere a discreet, continuous line of light beats a row of visible fixtures. Both residential and commercial projects benefit from the same trick: hide the source, show the light.
