THIN LED RECESSED - MOUNTING FRAMES - PF418

SKU: PF418

Brand: LUMIFARO

Give your ceiling the clean, professional finish contractors love with the PF418 plaster frame from LUMIFARO — the mounting frame (also called a mud ring, plaster ring or new-construction rough-in frame) made for thin LED recessed lighting. If you have been searching for recessed lighting hardware that lets you set your pot lights exactly where the plan says they go, before the drywall ever goes up, this is the piece you have been missing. It holds the downlight in place between the joists during framing, so the electrician can rough in on his schedule and the finisher can cut, tape and sand around a clean, square opening instead of guessing.

The PF418 frame is designed to work with the ultra-slim LED recessed line, including the FLP6-13W-3CCT-WH-2H fixture — a 2-hour fire-rated 6-inch unit tested to UL-263, ASTM E119 and CAN/ULC S101, rated IC and Airtight, approved for damp locations, and backed by a 3-year warranty. That fixture runs on 120 volts, draws 13 watts, delivers 1050 lumens with a CRI greater than 80 and a 120° beam angle, and offers 3 selectable colour temperatures — 3000K, 4000K or 5000K — chosen with a selector switch. It measures 7 1/16'' dia. x 1 3/4'' H, needs a 6 5/8'' hole, and is dimmable. Its junction box measures 3 3/8'' x 3 3/8'' x 1 1/4''.

New construction, basement finishing, condo renovations, offices, clinics, retail counters and corridors — anywhere encastré-style flat downlights are laid out on a grid, the PF418 keeps the spacing honest and the rows straight. In Canadian homes where fire-rated assemblies, insulated ceilings and vapour barriers all meet in the same cavity, a proper mounting frame saves callbacks. Pair it with the FLP-EX6-CCT 6 ft extension when the junction box sits far from the fixture location. Order the PF418 with your downlights and rough in with confidence.

Built for the rough-in stage
The PF418 is a plaster frame — the bracket assembly installed between joists or studs before the ceiling is closed. Its job is simple and valuable: it locks the location of each thin LED recessed light so the fixture lands exactly on the layout, at the right depth, perfectly level with the finished ceiling plane. Instead of cutting blind into finished gypsum and hoping the hole misses a joist, strap or duct, the trades set positions early, run the cable, and come back at finishing to drop the light in. On multi-unit and commercial jobs where dozens of pot lights follow a repeating grid, that discipline is what makes a ceiling look intentional rather than improvised.

What it works with
This frame belongs to the LUMIFARO ultra-slim recessed lighting family and is listed as an available accessory for the FLP6-13W-3CCT-WH-2H downlight. That fixture measures 7 1/16'' diameter by 1 3/4'' high and requires a 6 5/8'' hole in the ceiling, so the frame is sized around that opening. Its remote junction box is compact at 3 3/8'' x 3 3/8'' x 1 1/4'', which matters in shallow cavities and in ceilings already crowded with mechanicals. When the power source and the fixture are not close together, add the FLP-EX6-CCT 6 ft extension to reach the junction box without splicing.

Wiring and dimming notes
Installation of the matching downlight is straightforward: cable to the fixture through push-in quick-connect terminals, black wire, white wire and green wire to the power supply. Always shut off the power before connecting an LED device, otherwise the driver can be damaged. On dimmable circuits, the ultra-slim units work with most dimmers, and since dimmers are generally rated for a maximum of 150 watts on LED loads, the recommendation is not to exceed 80% of that capacity to avoid flicker at the low end — for example a maximum of 8 six-inch units (120 watts total) or 13 four-inch units (117 watts total) per dimmer.

Where it earns its keep — and documentation
Use the PF418 on new residential construction, basement and garage finishing, condo and rental turnovers, office and clinic build-outs, retail sales floors, corridors and stairwells — any project where the ceiling layout is drawn before it is built. The wide 120° beam of the companion fixture, its damp-location approval and its -25° to +45° operating range suit covered porches, entries and unheated Canadian spaces as well as heated interiors. Selectable 3000K, 4000K and 5000K means one stocked SKU covers warm living areas, neutral kitchens and crisp work zones. The PF418 spec sheet is available in the Documentation tab of this page for dimensions, ratings and accessory references — worth printing for the site binder. SKU: PF418.
