A trim built for the RT05 screwless step light
The RT05 platform was designed so that no screws interrupt the finished face — hence the name LED screwless step light. The horizontal trim slips over the RT05 light engine and locks into the recessed housing, creating a tight, flush plane against the wall or riser. That means no visible fasteners, no shadow gaps and no light leaking around the edges. The white finish was chosen to sit quietly against the most common surfaces in Canadian homes and buildings: white drywall, painted risers, pale porcelain tile and light stone. When the trim recedes, the eye follows the light instead of the fixture — exactly what good stair and step lighting should do.
Light quality and electrical details
The RT05 horizontal platform pulls only 2W and puts out 185 lumens, the sweet spot for marking a tread, a path or a low wall without blinding anyone walking toward it. A CRI greater than 90 renders wood grain, brick and stone honestly rather than washing them flat. Three colour temperatures are available across the family — 2700K warm white, 3000K warm white and 4000K natural white — so you can match a cozy interior stairwell or a crisper commercial corridor. The fixture is dimmable and accepts 120V AC or 12V AC/DC, which makes it equally at home on a standard line-voltage circuit or on a low-voltage landscape and deck system. A 12" (30 cm) wire lead comes ready for connection inside the box.

Installation and compatibility
This trim is an accessory: it is made to work with the RT05 recessed horizontal light engine and its housing, and should not be mixed with trims from another platform. Keeping the engine, housing and trim from the same manufacturer-matched family protects the optical alignment and the warranty coverage. Installation is straightforward — rough in the housing at the height you want (typically just above the tread or a few inches off the floor for a path light), run the 12" lead to a junction box, set the engine, then seat the horizontal trim for the final screwless finish. With an IP67 wet-location rating and an operating range down to -20°C, the assembly handles exterior steps, salt, snowmelt and pressure-washed commercial entries. Because tolerances are consistent unit to unit, contractors can line up a full flight of stairs and get the same reveal on every one.
Where it earns its keep, and documentation
Think basement stairwells where nobody wants an overhead light at 2 a.m., front porch steps that ice over in January, condo corridors, hotel room entries, restaurant ramps, gym mezzanines and retail display platforms. Landscape contractors use the 12V option along garden stairs and retaining walls, while electricians on renovation work appreciate the 120V option for tying into an existing switched circuit. In white, the trim is the go-to for light-coloured drywall and painted risers; black and brushed nickel are there when the surface is darker.
