Built for growing, not just glowingUnlike a decorative tape light, this
horticultural LED strip is populated with two specific diode types: deep red at
660nm and royal blue at
450nm. Those are the peaks chlorophyll absorbs most efficiently, which is why the strip looks magenta-pink to the eye while plants read it as usable energy. The flexible circuit board can be mounted straight along a shelf lip, wrapped around a frame or run in parallel lines above a tray to spread light evenly instead of concentrating it in one hot centre spot. The adhesive backing handles clean, dry, flat surfaces; for permanent installs, an aluminum channel or mechanical clips add security and help the strip run cooler over long hours.

Electrical and installation notesThis is a
low-voltage 24V LED strip, so it must be powered by a 24V DC driver rather than plugged directly into line voltage. Size the driver to the total load of your run: multiply 16W by the number of metres you intend to power, then leave headroom so the driver is not working at its absolute limit. Feed longer installations from both ends or split them into separate runs to keep brightness consistent from the first metre to the last. Respect the printed cut marks — cutting anywhere else breaks the circuit — and use solderless connectors or soldered leads with heat-shrink for clean, reliable joints. Keep polarity consistent (+ to +, − to −) and mount the strip a sensible distance above the canopy so light spreads before it reaches the leaves.
Where it earns its keepThink seed-starting shelves in a basement, a microgreens rack in a small café, propagation cabinets at a garden centre, a living herb wall behind a restaurant pass, hydroponic towers in a garage, or a plant display in a boutique that needs to look healthy in February. The
IP54 construction is the reason it belongs in these rooms: watering, misting and the ambient humidity of a grow space are part of daily life, and dust is constant around soil and coco. Contractors also like the format for built-in millwork — cabinetmakers can integrate
LED strip lighting into a plant shelf or display case without adding a bulky fixture that ruins the design.
Compatibility and documentationBecause it runs on the same 24V platform as the rest of the family, it is easy to plan a mixed installation on similar hardware: use white light nearby for ambience or task work with the
LED strip 24V 4.8W/M IP22, add brightness over a work counter with the
LED strip 19.2W/M 24V IP66, or bring colour to a retail display with the
RGB LED strip 14.4W/M 24V IP22. Each product keeps its own driver and controls. The technical PDF spec sheet for LCLS24V-HORTICULTURE-16W-IP54 is available in the Documentation tab of this page — download it before you order so you can confirm your run length, driver sizing and mounting plan.
