Clean square design, built lowThis is a
square gimbal downlight with a 40° beam, designed to sit tight to the ceiling instead of demanding a deep housing. The fixture measures 108 mm (4.25") across with a 63 mm (2.5") body and a 33 mm (1.33") depth dimension, plus a 45 mm (1.8") element on the technical drawing — small enough to slip between joists in a retrofit. The trim is interchangeable between 3 and 4 inches, which means one fixture can adapt to the opening you already have. The gimbal lets you tilt the light, so a row of
square downlights can stay perfectly aligned visually while each head aims where the work happens.
Light quality you can set on siteColour temperature is selected with a toggle switch on the junction box: upper position gives 2700K, second position 3000K, middle position 3500K, fourth position 4000K and lower position 5000K. That single switch turns one part number into five lighting moods — warm and relaxed for a living room, neutral for a hallway, cool and clean for a kitchen, bath or workshop. With CRI >80, whites read white and wood tones don't go muddy. The 8W module produces 784lm, and the tight 40° beam concentrates that output where you point it rather than spilling it across the ceiling. Being an integrated LED, there's no bulb to change, and solid-state construction handles frequent switching all day long.

Wiring, dimming and installationFeed the junction box from a standard 110 - 130VAC circuit, set the CCT toggle before you push the unit up, then let the spring clips grab the drywall. Because it is Type IC Rated, it can be in contact with insulation, and its Damp Location approval covers covered porches and properly ventilated bathroom ceilings. Dimming is Triac based, and the spec sheet lists tested
compatible dimmers including Lutron S-603P, CTCL-153P, TG600P, DV600P, LG600P, SCL-153P, MAW-600, LGCL-153P, 7SCL-153P, 600PH, DV-600P, 6838, CTELV-303P, CTCL-153PD and 6674, plus Leviton 6633-P, 1C33L1 and 6674 — using one of these is the simplest way to avoid flicker or drop-out at the low end. For new construction or when you want a fixed mounting point, the documentation also references the 4 inch plate (LCPLATE-4) and the 3 inch plate (LCPLATE-3).
Where it works, and what's in the box of documentsThink kitchen perimeters and islands, hallway runs in a condo, basement rec rooms with low ceilings, a bathroom ceiling over the vanity, retail shelving washed by angled beams, or a small clinic where colour accuracy matters. Contractors like the interchangeable 3 and 4 inch trim because one box covers two rough-in sizes on a mixed job. The full technical PDF (LCDLX4S-CCT-8W-WH Spec Sheet) is in the Documentation tab with the dimensional drawing, cut-out sizes, CCT switch positions and the complete dimmer compatibility table. If your design calls for a darker ceiling detail, the matching black version is the
LED recessed 4" DLX square - 8W.
