Sold on its own, it is the visible face of the installation: a matte white ring with a raised cylindrical wall that wraps the 12" discus body. Where a flat trim disappears into the ceiling, the cylindrical version creates a defined edge and a small shadow gap, which is what gives the fixture that architectural, semi-recessed appearance people are after in modern condos and renovated bungalows.
