Built for one job: making LED light look seamlessA bare LED strip is a row of tiny, very bright points. Look at it directly and you see dots, hot spots and shadow lines; put a proper diffuser in front of it and you see a single glowing line. The
10' 3D Opaque Lens #87 is that diffuser. Its three-dimensional profile — curved rather than flat — carries light around the face of the extrusion, so the beam reads evenly whether you are standing under it, beside it or catching it in a mirror. That matters most in the places people actually look at: undercabinet light reflected in a glossy backsplash, a cove detail seen from across a living room, a display case at eye level.
Length, cutting and installationAt
10 feet per piece, this lens is sized for long, uninterrupted runs. Fewer sections mean fewer joints, and fewer joints mean fewer faint dark lines where two diffusers meet. On site, measure the finished channel run first, then cut the lens slightly long and trim to a snug fit; a fine-tooth blade, a mitre box or a sharp utility knife scored and snapped all work, depending on how the lens behaves at the temperature of your shop. Dry-fit before you peel the tape on your LED tape light — it is much easier to slide a diffuser into an empty channel and confirm the fit than to fight it once the strip is stuck down. Leave the protective film on, if the piece has one, until the millwork and paint are finished.

Use: residential and commercial projects
Where it gets usedResidential: undercabinet and over-cabinet lighting, pantry and closet shelving, cove ceilings and tray details, stair treads and handrails, bathroom vanities and mirrors, basement bulkheads, garages and workshops. Commercial: retail shelving and display cases, reception and service counters, restaurant bars and booth seating, office millwork, corridor accents, gym and studio mirror walls. In every one of those cases the client is buying the look of light, not the look of a fixture — an
opaque LED channel lens is what sells the effect. It is also the smart repair part: when a lens gets stepped on during a renovation, or when an older run has dulled, swapping the diffuser is far quicker than tearing out the channel and the tape.
Matching lenses and documentationEvery extrusion has its own lens geometry, so always match the lens to your profile number. If your channel is not a #87, look at the
8' opaque lens #49, the
8' opaque lens #545, the
8 ft opal diffuser lens for LED profile #44 or the
8' frosted lens #84 #85 #86 #88, which covers several profiles at once. No spec sheet, IES file or installation video is posted for this accessory; the Documentation tab will show any document as soon as one is available. If you are unsure which lens your channel takes, compare the profile number stamped or listed on your extrusion before ordering.
