What an XL trim ring doesWhen you upgrade to slim LED recessed lights, the old ceiling holes are often larger or more irregular than the new fixture's trim. The SLM6P-XLRING-BN is an extra-large round ring that fits around a 6" round SlimLED Plus fixture and hides the gap. The result is a clean, uniform border, with no visible drywall damage, no patching and no repainting. It is also handy when a hole was cut too wide by mistake on a new build.
Construction and finishThe ring's body is stamped steel, chosen for rigidity so it sits flat against the ceiling surface without warping. It is finished with UV-stabilized paint in brushed nickel to match compatible fixtures, a soft metallic tone that looks at home in modern kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms. A silicone gasket is included so the fixture keeps its wet location rating once the ring is installed, an important detail in a shower zone, a humid bathroom or an exterior soffit.
CompatibilityThis ring is designed for the 6" round slim recessed fixtures of the SlimLED Plus family, including SlimLED Plus DTW and SlimLED OnCloud, as well as the round 6" SKYE and SKYE OnCloud fixtures. A typical match is the
SlimLED Plus 6" LED slim recessed light. Always make sure you choose the ring that matches the size of your fixture: a separate, smaller version exists for the smaller size of these fixtures, so double-check before ordering.
Installation tipsTurn off the power, connect the slim recessed light as usual, then place the XL ring around the fixture before pushing it up into the ceiling so the ring is held between the fixture's trim and the ceiling. Check that the silicone gasket is seated evenly if the fixture is in a wet area. Because everything happens from below, the ring adds only a few seconds to each installation, and it can save hours of drywall repair on a large renovation.
Where it helps mostUse it in basement renovations, kitchen and bathroom makeovers, condo upgrades and commercial retrofits where old cans are being replaced by slim LED fixtures. In a bright white kitchen or a spa-style bathroom, the brushed nickel finish is a stylish choice when you want the lights to echo metal accents in the room rather than disappear into the ceiling.
