A flexible accent trimThe HV4-TH4018-BN is a
gimbal trim for 4-inch recessed lighting, finished in brushed nickel. Its pivoting ring holds the bulb and lets you tilt and rotate the light, so a single pot light can serve as general lighting or as a targeted accent. It is ideal for artwork, family photos, fireplaces, built-in shelving, retail displays and islands that are not perfectly centred under the ceiling housing.
Bulb and light qualityThis trim is intended for a
P20 bulb with a 50W rating. An
LED P20 bulb is the recommended pairing: it runs cooler, which is easier on artwork and fabrics, lasts much longer than halogen and uses much less energy. Choose warm white for cozy living spaces and dining areas, and neutral white for kitchens, workspaces and merchandise that must look true to colour.
Installation and aimingA qualified person should first mount and wire the
4-inch recessed housing. With the power off at the panel, check that the housing is compatible with this trim series, install the bulb and push the trim up until it rests flat against the ceiling. Restore power, then tilt the gimbal gently by hand to aim the light. Replacing fixed trims with gimbal trims is also a quick upgrade for existing
recessed lights that no longer match your furniture layout.
Brushed nickel, black or brass?Brushed nickel is the versatile middle ground: softer than chrome, lighter than black, and easy to coordinate with transitional and contemporary décors. For a bold modern contrast, a black version of the same gimbal trim exists; for a warmer, decorative accent, choose the
4-inch gimbal trim in brushed brass. Fixed baffle or reflector trims of the same size can handle the general lighting elsewhere in the room.
CareWith the power off and the bulb cool, dust the trim with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, following the direction of the brushed grain. Avoid abrasive cleaners and polishes that could alter the brushed finish, and never force the gimbal past its natural movement. With an LED bulb, upkeep is minimal for years.
