What this kit actually isA recessed
LED flat panel is built to sit in a suspended T-bar ceiling, resting on the grid. On a drywall, plaster, concrete or wood ceiling there is nothing to rest on — that is exactly the gap this accessory fills. The
surface mount frame wraps the panel, gives it rigid sides and a mounting surface, and lets you fasten the assembly directly to the structure. The result looks like a purpose-built surface fixture rather than a panel stuck on a ceiling, and the joint between the frame and the finished surface stays clean, which matters a lot in a hallway or a reception area where the ceiling is at eye level.
Format and compatibilityThis version is the
1x4 kit for multi watt LED panels, model LCPAN-KIT-MONT-1X4-T. Match the kit format to the panel format: a 1x4 kit for a 1x4 panel, and nothing else. For square panels, the
2x2 mounting kit is the right call, and large rectangular panels use the
2x4 mounting kit. Panels from the radio frequency family have their own dedicated hardware, the
Mounting kit for radio frequency LED panels, so keep the two families separate when you build your order for a jobsite.
Installation notesPlan the work in the usual order: cut and pull your feed to the location, secure the frame to solid backing (joist, strapping, blocking or an anchored box in concrete), connect the panel driver to the supply, seat the panel in the frame and close it up. Because the accessory is mechanical only, all electrical connections and controls stay governed by the panel and its driver — wattage selection switch, colour temperature selection and dimming behaviour remain whatever the panel offers. Always follow the panel's own instructions and the Canadian Electrical Code, and have the final connection done by a licensed electrician on commercial work.
Where it earns its keepRenovated basements and family rooms where the owner refuses to drop the ceiling. Condo corridors and lobbies with concrete slabs. Older offices, dental and medical clinics, daycares, classrooms, hair salons, pharmacies, small warehouses, service counters and back rooms. Garages and workshops where a long
1x4 LED panel gives an even, shadow-free wash over a workbench. Anywhere you need commercial-grade surface lighting without the cost and height loss of installing a whole T-bar grid.
Good to knowThis is an accessory sold separately from the panel, so order one kit per panel to be surface mounted. If the ceiling is very high, or if you want the light closer to the work plane, suspending the panel is often the better answer — see the
Hanging kit for LED panels 1x4. No spec sheet, IES file or video is listed for this accessory; the technical data you need for the installation comes from the LED panel itself, so keep the panel documentation handy when you plan the layout.
