Built for real commercial ceilingsThe RIGID 4" regressed downlight ships as a complete kit: the downlight itself, an input power conduit lead, a safety cable and five wire nuts. The fixture body is one piece and is not meant to be disassembled, which keeps the optical chamber sealed and the light output consistent over time. The regressed LED source sits back from the aperture, so the bright spot stays out of your line of sight — that is the difference between a ceiling that reads as calm and one that makes people squint at their screens. The white trim disappears into most acoustic tile and painted drywall ceilings, and the spring-arm mounting closes onto the upper surface of the ceiling panel for a flush, rattle-free fit.
Light quality you set on siteTwo slide switches on the back of the housing do the work that used to require four purchase orders. The CCT select switch runs through 2700K (soft white), 3000K (warm white), 3500K (neutral white), 4000K (cool white) and 5000K (daylight). The wattage select switch sets 6W, 8W, 10W or 13W for 600, 800, 1000 or 1300 lumens. Set a lobby to 3000K at 13W for a welcoming glow, then run the same fixture at 3500K and 8W above a corridor — one box on the truck, four lumen packages and five colours in your pocket.

Wiring, dimming and installationCut power at the fuse or breaker first, then remove the existing trim and bulb from the recessed housing and open the access panel to the conduit junction box, making sure a knockout is free for the input power connection. Extend the input power conduit lead through the ceiling, connect the conduit fitting to the junction box and anchor the safety cable to a structural point above the plenum. Connections are straightforward: black to black, white to white, green to green or bare — if there is no ground supply wire, stop and call a qualified electrician. For
0-10V dimming, tie the purple and pink wires to the matching wires of the building dimming system; for
TRIAC dimming, check the dimmer compatibility list; if no dimming is required, simply leave those wires unconnected. Set your CCT and wattage before tucking the wires back, fold the spring arms, push the fixture up and let the tension grab the ceiling. Estimated assembly time is 5 minutes and no tools are required. Installation demands knowledge of luminaire electrical systems — if you are not qualified, hire an electrician.
Applications, family and documentationThis 4" size is the detail light of the family: perimeter runs in offices, retail shelving washes, hotel corridors, dental and medical clinics, condo lobbies, restaurant washrooms and any reno where a tight beam and a discreet aperture matter. Scale the same look across a floor plan with the
Rigid 6" commercial downlight, the
Rigid 8" commercial downlight and the
Rigid 10" commercial downlight. In suspended-ceiling areas, pair the downlights with a
2x4 LED panel for general ambient light and keep the downlights for accents. Clean the fixture with a mild, non-abrasive glass cleaner on a soft cloth, power off, spraying the cloth and never the fixture.
