Built for corners
In a track lighting system, the L connector for track LCTC-L-6102-SL is the fitting that makes a clean right-angle turn: it connects two track sections at 90°. With it, one layout can follow the walls of a room, trace the edge of a ceiling or outline a bulkhead, instead of stopping at the first corner. Also known as a corner track connector, it is one of the most useful parts when planning track lighting in real rooms, which are rarely a single straight line.
System details from the spec sheet
This connector is part of a single-circuit track system designed for 120V applications, with a system electrical rating of 20A, 120V, 60Hz. The single hot and neutral conductors are rated for 20 amps per branch circuit. The track is extruded aluminum with flat, solid integral conductors, while the copper electrical conductors are concealed in an insulating thermoplastic cross-section. Track sections are joined together using compatible track connectors, and a polarity groove on the face of the track indicates the location of the grounding conductor. The system also offers straight, T, X and flexible connectors when the layout calls for them.
Installing the corner
Switch off the power at the breaker before any work and entrust the connections to a qualified electrician, following the electrical code of your province. Trace both legs of the L on the ceiling with a chalk line or a laser level and mark the corner where the connector will sit. When joining the sections, line up the polarity groove so the grounding conductor stays on the same side on both legs. Secure the track flush and square, then install your track lighting heads and aim them. The spec sheet (PDF) is available in the Documentation tab.
Where silver corners shine
At home, an L-shaped run of track lighting works in kitchens with stainless appliances, in open-concept living spaces, around a home office corner or across a basement media room. In business, it lights the corner displays of boutiques, bike and sports shops, salons, cafés and galleries, where products and artwork line two walls. The silver finish keeps the look crisp and modern, whether the ceiling is white, grey or exposed. It is designed for residential and commercial projects in every province.
