A flexible alternative to a fixed gridRecessed pot lights are fixed once the ceiling is cut; track lighting stays adjustable. With an
X connector for track, you can give a room the even coverage of a grid while keeping that flexibility: four rail sections meet at a central crossing, opposite arms in line, and the heads can be placed and aimed anywhere along the arms. The result is a single
track rail layout that lights a wide area, can be re-aimed as the room changes and reads as a deliberate design on the ceiling. It is intended for residential and commercial
track lighting projects.
From sketch to shopping listOn a plan of the room, place the crossing where the light should be centred, then draw the arms toward the walls or zones to light. Count the rail sections for each arm and add an end piece at every extremity, for instance the right end connector or the end connector and track plate of the LCTC family. Then place your
track light heads: more of them over work surfaces or displays, fewer over circulation areas. Finally, make sure this connector suits the
track profile you are using, since hardware from different systems rarely fits together.
Installation pointersTurn off the power at the breaker before starting. Mark the two axes of the cross on the ceiling, assemble the four sections at the connector and check that every joint is firm and that opposite arms are perfectly aligned. Secure the track according to your system's instructions, then install and aim the heads. For the connection to the electrical supply, count on a
licensed electrician if you have any doubt. In a studio or a workshop, take the time to aim each head once the room is furnished: that is where a
cross layout shows its full value.
Versions and applicationsThe same X connector also exists as
X connector for track LCTC-X-6104-BK and
X connector for track LCTC-X-6104-BN. Applications: a
photo studio where each arm lights a different set; a dance or yoga studio that needs even light over the whole floor; a workshop or garage where the arms cover the workbench, the tool wall and the vehicle area; a square living room where the crossing sits above the coffee table and the arms reach the sofa, the bookcase and the reading chair.
