Power in, clean finish out
In any track lighting installation, one component brings power into the rail. This live end power feed does it from the end of the track: it is wired to the building supply at the ceiling box and joined to the track, energizing the rail along its whole length. From then on, spotlights can be added, moved or re-aimed without touching the wiring, which makes track the most adaptable way to light a room that changes over time.
The advantage of an integrated canopy
A canopy is the round or shaped cover that sits flat against the ceiling over the electrical box. Because it comes with this feed, the box is enclosed and the wiring hidden from view, giving a result that looks designed rather than improvised. In renovations, it neatly covers an existing box; in new construction, it gives the finished look inspectors and clients expect. No need to hunt for a separate cover plate or paint over a patch.
Installing it the right way
Plan the track run so that its end lands at the ceiling junction box. With the breaker turned off, the feed is connected to the supply conductors, the canopy is secured over the box and the track is fastened to the ceiling along its length. Electrical codes apply in every province, so the connection should be made by a licensed electrician. Make sure the feed, the track and the heads all belong to the same track system before placing your order.
Why choose white
The white version, LE6111-WH, is the discreet option. On a white ceiling with white track, the hardware fades away and only the light remains. It is ideal for bright Scandinavian-style kitchens, condos with low ceilings, basements, galleries and any room where you want lighting that performs without calling attention to itself.
Everyday care
The feed needs no maintenance beyond a light dusting of the canopy with a dry cloth, circuit off. Keep paint off the track and connectors during renovations, and always cut the power before adding, removing or sliding a track head. Planning the complete layout, from power feed to end cap and heads, makes for a faster installation and a professional finish.
