With 240 LEDs per metre in the 2835 SMD format, the individual diodes sit close enough together that the eye reads a continuous line rather than a row of dots. That matters most when the tape is visible in a reflective surface — a glossy backsplash, a glass shelf, a polished countertop — or when it is installed in a shallow aluminum channel with a frosted diffuser. Electrical, dimming and installation
This is a constant-voltage product: it needs a 24V DC driver (power supply) sized for the total wattage of your run — multiply 28.8W by the number of metres you are powering, then leave yourself headroom. Running at 24V rather than 12V means less voltage drop along the tape, so the far end stays as bright as the first metre on longer installations. For control, use a 24V DC PWM or constant-voltage dimmer, which gives flicker-free dimming from full output down to near-off and integrates easily with scene controllers and residential automation. Feed long runs from both ends or split them into separate circuits rather than daisy-chaining beyond what the tape and driver can handle. Cut only at the marked cut points, use solderless connectors or soldered leads, and mount the tape in an aluminum extrusion — the channel acts as a heat sink and the diffuser softens the LEDs into one clean line. Clean and dry the mounting surface first so the adhesive backing holds.
Where it works, and what to plan for
In a home: under upper cabinets, inside pantries and closets, in ceiling coves and tray ceilings, along stair stringers, under floating vanities and bed frames, inside display cabinets and home bars. In business: retail shelving and merchandise displays, jewellery and bakery cases, restaurant and hotel millwork, reception desks, office coves and corridor accents. Because this tape is rated for indoor installations, keep it out of unprotected outdoor locations and away from direct water contact — for covered outdoor or damp areas, choose a strip rated for that environment.
