Built for one job, and it does it well
The CL-AST-CSP8EC-LV is a termination accessory — an end cap engineered specifically for CSP LED strip lights with an 8mm PCB width. CSP, or Chip Scale Package, refers to LEDs mounted without a traditional package carrier: the light source is extremely compact, which is what gives these strips their high lumen density, smooth continuous line and minimal glare. That compactness also means the strip body and its silicone or resin jacket are narrow and precise, so the closure at each end has to match the profile exactly. This cap is dimensioned for that 8mm PCB and sits over the terminal end of compatible Canolight low-voltage CSP strips, closing the section where the coating stops and the circuit would otherwise be exposed.
IP67: what that rating really means for you
An IP67 rating means total protection against dust ingress and protection against temporary immersion in water up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. On an LED strip system, that rating is only as strong as its weakest point — and the weakest point is almost always the cut end. Water wicks along the copper traces, corrodes solder pads, and the failure often shows up half a metre down the run, long after the installer has left. Capping the end with a properly rated accessory stops that path cold. In practical terms: a strip in a shower niche, under a deck rail, inside an illuminated sign cabinet or buried in a garden bed keeps its protection class only if both the feed end and the terminal end are sealed correctly.

Installation and handling
Installation is deliberately simple. Cut the strip only at the marked cut points, wipe the end clean and dry, then slide the end cap over the 8mm PCB until it seats fully against the strip body. It fits snugly and forms a tight seal, and in most cases no additional tools or adhesives are required. Work with dry hands and a dry strip — trapped moisture inside a sealed cap is worse than no cap at all. On outdoor or in-ground runs, let the assembly sit before energizing so everything is settled, and always verify polarity at the feed end before powering up. Because this is a low-voltage accessory, it is meant to be used with strips fed by a correctly sized low-voltage driver or power supply, not connected to line voltage.
Systems, applications and documentation
This cap is part of the wider Canolight accessory family, so it pairs naturally with the connectors, aluminum mounting channels and power supplies developed for the same CSP strip series — one ecosystem, no compatibility surprises on site. Typical projects include bathroom vanity and mirror lighting, kitchen under-cabinet and toe-kick runs, basement and stairwell accents, retail display cases and shelving, bar and restaurant millwork, channel letters and sign cabinets, plus exterior soffits, decks, railings, planters and pool decks across Canada's demanding climate.
