Why the locknut matters on large conduit
The ED-LNS-S150 is a 1-1/2 in steel locknut in a bag of 4, for residential and commercial projects. Every 1-1/2 in fitting that passes through a knockout needs one: threaded onto the end of the fitting inside the enclosure and tightened against the wall, it clamps the fitting so it cannot spin or pull back. The larger the conduit, the more leverage it has on the fitting, which is why a properly seated locknut is so important on feeders and big raceways.
Fittings and enclosures
This locknut is for 1-1/2 in threaded ends: EMT set-screw and compression connectors, 1-1/2 in cable connectors, flexible metal conduit and liquid-tight connectors, threaded rigid conduit and threaded PVC terminal adapters. Knockouts of 1-1/2 in are found on distribution panels and load centres, disconnect switches, splitters and wireways, large junction and pull boxes, and many transformer and equipment enclosures. Keep the bag on hand for the fitting that arrives without its nut, or the nut that gets damaged during a tough installation.
Getting a solid installation
De-energize the equipment before any work. Open the 1-1/2 in knockout and deburr the edge, then insert the fitting from the outside. Start the steel locknut by hand, square to the threads, and turn it until it meets the inside wall; finish with a locknut wrench or large tongue-and-groove pliers until the fitting is completely rigid. Add an insulating bushing where the electrical code requires one, and have the work performed or verified by a licensed electrician in your province.

Where you will use it
A feeder in PVC conduit rising out of the ground into a garage panel, a row of large EMT conduits landing on a wireway above a production line, a new distribution panel in a commercial unit fed from the main electrical room: in each case, a 1-1/2 in locknut on every fitting keeps the raceway system tight and professional. For industrial maintenance teams, a bag of 4 on the shelf means a damaged fitting can be replaced during the same shutdown. The manufacturer's PDF document is available in the Documentation tab for reference.
