SMART WIFI DOOR CONTACT DETECTOR

SMART WIFI DOOR CONTACT DETECTOR

SKU: LCDO-WIFIDOORSENSOR-WH

Brand: LEDCO

Keep an eye on every door, window and cabinet in your home or shop without running a single wire. The smart Wi-Fi door contact detector (SKU LCDO-WIFIDOORSENSOR-WH) is a simple two-piece magnetic door sensor: one half sticks to the moving door or window, the other to the frame. The moment the two parts separate, the detector reports the change over your home Wi-Fi to the compatible smart home app, so you get a live open or closed status and a history of recent activity, whether you are in the next room or three provinces away.

This Wi-Fi door and window sensor connects to a standard 2.4 GHz wireless network using the IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standard, with WEP, WPA or WPA2 encryption so your setup stays private. Wireless range is rated at 45 M, and the sensor sips power: 13 uA in standby and 115-120 mA when working, running on a single CR2 3 V battery. The main part measures 71 x 21 x 22 mm (2.75 in) and the magnet part 40 x 11 x 11 mm (1.5 in), so both halves tuck discreetly against a door jamb in a clean white finish. Pairing is quick with EZ mode, or you can switch to AP mode if your router needs it, and an LED indicator light walks you through every step. Operating temperature is 0°C ~ 40°C (32°F ~ 104°F), the device is designed for indoor use only, and it is covered by a 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects. The free app works with mobile devices on iOS 8.0 and above and Android 4.0 and above.

Homeowners put it on entry doors, medicine and liquor cabinets, gun safes, garage doors and basement windows. Contractors and small businesses add it to stockrooms, side entrances, server closets and display cases for wire-free monitoring that grows one door at a time. Best of all, an opening can trigger an automation: switch on a hallway light, an LED strip light or a plug-in fixture, fire off a push alert, or run a night-time scene only. Pair it with the Intelligent Wi-Fi motion detector from the same family to cover both the doorway and the room behind it. Add one to your cart and start your smart home the easy way.

How the sensor works
This smart door contact detector is built in two pieces: a main part that holds the electronics, the battery and the reset button, and a slim magnet part. Mounted side by side on the door and the frame, they read each other magnetically. Separate them and the device sends the status change over your Wi-Fi network to the compatible smart home app, which shows a live open or closed state plus a log of recent openings. Because the detector talks straight to your router, there is no hub, no gateway and no low-voltage wiring to pull, which makes it a favourite for finished basements, rented spaces and retrofits where fishing cable is simply not an option.

Setup and installation
Before you pair, make sure you have an Internet connection with a Wi-Fi network, a strong Wi-Fi signal, a password-protected network (letters and numbers only, and not too long) and a router with enough free connections. Confirm the device is powered on, keep the sensor, your smartphone and the router as close together as possible, then open the app, tap the "+" icon at the top right of the Devices page and choose the device type. In EZ mode the LED indicator light flashes quickly; if pairing gives you trouble, press the reset button again to switch to AP mode, where the LED flashes slowly. When the LED lights up for 4 seconds then goes off after 2 seconds, the device is in configuration mode. Physically, the kit includes a sticker, a screw and a screw anchor, so you can use the adhesive on a clean, dry surface or screw the halves down for good. Keep both parts closely aligned with a minimal gap and test the signal from your chosen spot before pressing everything down permanently.

Automations, app and voice control
The free companion app runs on mobile devices with iOS 8.0 and above and Android 4.0 and above. Beyond simple alerts, the settings let you customize scenes and share the device so family members, roommates or staff can see the same status. That is where a contact sensor really earns its keep: opening a linked door can switch on a hallway fixture, wake up an LED strip under a stair rail, power a plug-in lamp, or trigger a push notification only at night. Many setups also work with popular voice assistants, so you can simply ask whether the garage or patio door was left open before heading to bed.

Where it shines and what pairs with it
Use it on front and back entries, garage service doors, basement windows, medicine or liquor cabinets, gun safes, stockrooms, server closets and retail display cases. In Canadian homes it is handy on the door between the garage and the house in winter, when an unnoticed gap means cold air all night. Since it is rated for indoor, dry locations between 0°C and 40°C, mount it inside the heated envelope rather than in an unheated shed. Build out the same ecosystem with the Intelligent Wi-Fi motion detector, which shares the same app and lets you combine door openings and movement in one scene.
