Why a flat wire makes sense
A flat RGB cable stays low against the surface it follows. That is a real advantage under the front lip of an upper cabinet, along the back edge of a shelf, beneath a baseboard or behind a wall panel, where a thicker round cable is harder to hide. The red, green, blue and black conductors run side by side for the whole length, so the installation stays organized and easy to inspect later. The flat shape also sits neatly under cable clips or adhesive cable mounts, keeping long runs straight and tidy.
Wiring in practice
Cut the LED strip only at its marked cut points, then cut the 20 gauge wire to the length of each gap, with a little extra for comfort. Separate the conductors slightly at each end, strip a short length of insulation, and attach them to the strip pads with solder or to a compatible connector. Keep every colour on the matching line at both ends of each bridge. Before reinstalling a kick plate or a valance, run the controller through its colours to confirm each channel responds, then secure the cable away from the cooktop and from sharp edges.
Compatibility and electrical notes
This RGB extension wire is designed for RGB LED strips: its colour-coded conductors line up with the contacts of an RGB strip and of its controller. It links a strip to its RGB controller, joins strip sections across a dark gap and extends a run that falls short. Plan your layout before buying so you know how many bridges and leads you need, and keep a small reserve for last-minute changes. For any run hidden inside a wall or a ceiling, check what your local code requires, and leave any connection of the power supply to the electrical network to a qualified electrician.
Documentation and real projects
A technical sheet is available in the Documentation tab of this page, handy for contractors who document each job. Typical projects include a kitchen where colour frames the hood, a home theatre with accents behind the screen, a basement games room, a salon or restaurant feature wall, a reception counter, a shop window that changes colour for each holiday, or a boutique with lit display niches. In all of these, the flat wire keeps the connections out of sight, so customers and guests only notice the colour of your RGB LED strip lighting.
